You are under-rating McNeill a lot I think.bergey wroteCOLONSteve crushed this one.
Too early to tell anyways, but you may very well be right.
Colborne should dominate the A this year, he tore it last year until he got his wrist injury. He's having his surgery now (might of already had it) he has top 6 potential for sure, just not sure what line he will play on when he is ready.
McNeill definitely has 2nd line potential and is pretty physical while able to add some offense. Ruopp is someone who the Pens organization is high on, they were targetting him when they picked Harrington (it was between the two). One of their higher up scouts labelled him as a potential gem, after the Michalek trade. If he makes it, he will be a good source of periphs (especially hits). Weal is very boom/bust .. Highly offensive, yet undersized player. (I had him previously)

Doesn't add up to to quality that colbrone is IMO.
Re: BUF/LAK
I think it's not bad.. McNeill is pretty gd.. but yes i do like colborne more

#91 - John Tavares
Re: BUF/LAK
Colborne is bad. 3rd line centre if he ever sticks in the NHL here.
Scraps for scraps, nothing to see here.

Well that's the last time I ever draft someone for you, Steve.

Colborne is very overrated by Leafs fans.

him and mcneill are about the same level. steve adds weal so the new guy has an extra prospect with upside and it makes up for the nhl-readyness of colborne compared to mcneill, if anything.

Re: BUF/LAK
McNeil has never projected, IMo, as a top line scoring C. Colborne has had the potential all along. Bigger, faster, and more skilled - no not as mean or physical but IMO that's just one aspect of the game, and it's amazing how many big skilled C's grow into some grit.
If anything I'd wager leaf fans underrate Joe because he's a) not drafted by us. b) not 'blue collar' enough to be an easy player to fall in love with and c) inconsistent in production, although typically with good reason when the news comes out.
What's up in this deal, IMO, is that a higher potential, close to the NhL, prospect who is not buried by a deep position on the NhL roster in front of him was traded for 3 pieces that don't offer near the upside nor the likelihood of being a piece of value.

Re: BUF/LAK
although he could become one, the likelihood of colborne being a top line center is pretty low
