PIT/MIN Blockbuster
Re: PIT/MIN Blockbuster
I like it for Hong - baring a comeback by Luke I think he ran away with two superior players.

as a Western conference resident, i dislike this deal.

Schenn isn't going to PK ahead of Coburn or Timonen so he'll still be relegated to PK#2KapG wroteCOLONBefore last year Hossa hadn't been healthy for a full season since 2006.. The only thing Orpik has on Schenn right now is PK and if you go back a year before Schenn had over 200 mins of SHTOI, Ron wilson was just a fucking retard and wouldn't put him out there.Shep wroteCOLONStats say Orpik > Schenn. Hossa > perron yes, but perron is not done developing IMO and he is 9 years younger.
Hong also takes on far more injury risk all for minute gains in the present. Not the smartest asset management IMO.
Also, age is nothing and SO overrated. How is there far more injury risk for hong? Hossa was concussed, sure. Perron missed 90+ games from a concussion. Suddenly he's no risk? This is Hossa's first concussion.
Perron has had that nasty concussion yes, but prior to that he was good for a full season.

Still likely see's about 200 shtoi I would guess. No I won't bet on it though

Re: PIT/MIN Blockbuster
i do agree schenn > orpik long term.. i love schenn and i think he will be back in his form.. but hossa when healthy is a huge upgrade on perron.. even though i do like perron's production and probably be a consistent 25-30g scorer... but i have schwartz to kick him out of the top line in soon future

Re: PIT/MIN Blockbuster
and schenn has underrated scoring.. his scoring production increase every season i think he can reach 30 which makes him even more valuable

Re: PIT/MIN Blockbuster
Now the over reactions are going the other way. Hong gets more the the best player in hossa. I get a very similar player to Orpik in Schenn. I save 1.6m in cap. I get 10 years younger and healthier and each position with players that have untapped potential.
Fair as fuck IMO.

Re: PIT/MIN Blockbuster
I thought Grossman sucked, and by that I mean he reminded me a lot of Luke.
But there's also the actual chance of Chris Pronger returning... which pushes everyone's minutes back.
W/o pronger, the fact is the Flyers D was bad - they outscored and pressed on with their impressive forward group. So if Luke can find his game he'll have landed in a very nice home.

Schenn will see 200 SHTOI. I could careless about who he PKs over lol.bills09 wroteCOLONI doubt Schenn pks over Timmonen Coburn Grossmann...

Re: PIT/MIN Blockbuster
A lot of analysis that went on to evaluate the schenn deal in real life also suggested that there is indeed a plan for schenn in philly mainly due to the fact that his gritty style of play along with the ability to land bone crunching hits really suit the style of the game philly is used to and the fans are used to it as well. We are talking production but i believe that schenn will be popular in philly and even be a fan favourite. If he can take smart advantage of this potential situation, he will have no problems dishing out shtoi over any of the top 4 dmen in philly.

The only players who should pk over him are Timmonen and Coburn. Grossman just isn't that good...IMO of course.
I still think he sees 200+. Schenn that is..
Re: PIT/MIN Blockbuster
Based on the various reaction from both sides of the coin, I would say this is a great and even trade.
