Nah man - not even saying this because he's on my team - his impact is definitely 2nd pairing and his offensive ability is top pairing quality, esp his wrist shot from the point, which has to be one of the best in the league. Also, he was given a ridiculous amount of SHTOI in the second half of the season by Carlyle. Give it till next off season, you'll see - that is if we don't trade him.

Steve is right in the literal sense, Cody Franson is a bottom pairing defenceman in the NHL, save for 7 games against the Bruins in the playoffs. However, Shiv is also right in pointing out that Franson produces more than the prototypical bottom pairing defenceman, there is also alot of evidence to suggest that his role will continue to increase in the future, perhaps even the immediate future.

erik gustafsson is going to come onto a lot of peoples radars once this upcoming season is a few months in. Kid was eating 22+ a night for the flyers the last month or so and then was swedens best dman, logging over 25 a game, at the world championships!

Franson was 8th overall in defensive scoring with less ice time than the other 34 top defensive scorers around him.

he still doesn't deserve over 4mil after showing a short stint of decent'ness.
