Not looking good after todays 'counter proposal'
Cammy called the proposal "the same junk, just worded differently"

Proposed Salary Caps: all projected and fixed: 2012/13 - $58M 2013/14 -$60M. 2014/15-$62M. 2015/16-$64.2M. 2016/17 - $67.6M 2017/18 - $71.1M
58 mil next year cap? i can shed some i guess lol
poor Minnesota, bye bye Heatley or Backstrom

if the cap goes down, so will players salaries....so, if the cap drops 10mil, roughly 20%, you'd have to think the players salaries will roll back an equal amount.

not correct - missing escrow amounts.
actually that entire breakdown is filled with errors. Not even worth working off of.

Actually decipherable:
NHL proposed a 6 year term today.
Players Share:
2012/13 - 51.6%
2013/14 - 50.5%
2014/15 - 49.6%
2015/16 - 50%
2016/17 - 50%
2017/18 - 50%
And something happening with HHR.
On a whole this feels like a move to the middle, that 50/50 split is the basis for conversation IMO.

This is weird terminology. Fixed cap - that sounds familiar, but projected from growth amounts? 60M from 70Mish seems like more then a 5.4% drop (57-->51.6).

If the cap does down by a significant margin, then player salaries will be rolled back accordingly.

The current NHL proposal does not include a roll back of any kind.
I personally think this is a pretty fair offer from the owners and gives me hope something will get done.

Correct me if I'm wrong Nick, but this is my understanding of all of this.
The proposed deal involves players putting a larger percentage of their salaries into escrow. If at the end of the year the total salary was under the HHR%, then the players get all the money back + interest. If the total salaries add up to more than the %, then the owners get money back to bring the total player salary down to the % and whatever is left over goes to the players. Since the proposal involves increasing the HHR% it essentially serves the same purpose as a roll back.

I just told you, player salaries will be scaled back accordingly.

I can't see the players accepting this. Why would teams be rushing to get these long term deals done before deadline? If these exisitng contracts arent scaled back i think we in BBKL will need some time to do some major adjusting...lol

They will be if the cap is lowered by a significant margin. A majority of teams won't be able to operate under the cap otherwise.

I wonder if there could be a clause on existing contracts that the players still get paid but there is a percentage of contract applied to new Cap schema?

That defeats the whole purpose. They want to spend less money on players.
