Hey guys just noticed that we have a BBKL awards section that has gone on un-updated. I realize that the forums being down hasn't helped, but what would it take to get it done? I don't mind helping out if there's some sort of established process for handing out the awards.....

Voting for me gets it done.

They are such a chore, and we had WAY too many.

We should have 8-10 main ones and that it. Last year was retarded and hardly anybody cared (or maybe it was just me who didn't care, lol).

Pretty sure it was everyone who didn't care. 5-10 is more than enough.

Outright insane # in previous years -> GM awards especially. BBKL player awards, based on their stats and role for their team are much more interesting if done correctly.

Anyways, put together a award creation committee, have a few interesting GM awards, and then some well thought out definitions for the player awards. Clearly stating what each award is, is a vital part of making this process worthwhile.

So ye, take the initiative and see who else wants to jump in with you -> voting should be league wide, and blind (IMO).

Okay gonna get a few guys together on this asap, if guys are interested just post in here and i'll contact you.

There's no hurry , a huge gap between the waiver and entry draft. At the earliest I'd wait until the 5th round to stArt

Seriously, we need 5, maybe most improved gm, one for the winner (anton), etc...

some easy ones:


Player awards:
Calder (BBKL rookie of the year)
Heart (BBKL MVP)
Vezina (best goalie - not the masterson, as in we should probably check who won the most goalie categories throughout the season)
Selke (forward with BS/SHTOI/+? --- then need to be clear whether FOW is valued, or hits and where to rank scoring)
Norris (Weber)
Conn Smythe (need to see which player on the final two teams did the most during the playoff weeks)
Rocket Richard, Art Ross & Masterson are all single category stats driven so we'll have the same winners as the NHL.


GM awards:
BBKLer of the year (the GM who did the most to help the site/organization this year)
All talk award
Manger of the year (NOT the BBKL champion award, this is to the biggest roster/value change)


Those are the easy ones IMO, happy to have a few more - just important that they make sense. For the player awards, pictures of important statistics would be in very good taste.

FOW should absolutely be involved in Selke discussion.

The Agitator

are the only necessities imo. gets a bit ridiculous after that.

So what's going on with this?

Got three of us together thus far, but waiting until after the draft to do much more (i.e. getting another few GM's involved in the award creation) then I'll get a poll up to vote for the awards. Perhaps one of you handy types could help once we have the awards created and could make some pictures or something we can use.
