Alright boys,
Obviously there is no hiding we have hit a bit of a rough spot in the last couple of weeks, but I'd like to reassure everyone that I love this league and have done too much work to watch it fall. With the recent resignations from some of the GMs I have this to say;
Kareem - Regardless of your reason for leaving, I appreciate everything you have done for this league, a lot of people don't realize just how much work you actually did during previous drafts and switching over to the new forums. You were a very talented GM and valued member of the community. You will always be welcome on the forums for as long as I'm an Admin. I hope we can still find time to chat about hockey and even still get together for a round or two on the course this year!
Scott - First of congratulations on your annoucment! When you told me I was very excited for you as I realized over the past couple of years you are more than just some guy I shoot the shit about hockey with(no homo) (leave it alone anton). Next to Facey, you are most responsible for me being here. Since the day I arrived to the league you have helped me not only develop my team, but develop the league. You are very much so responsible for the league that all of us here love to take part in, and the great community we all share.
Tony - Sad to see you go for sure! Good luck on whatever personal things you have going on! Since you have been here you have challenged Anton for "The Excellent .gif placement Award"! Great part of the community and solid GM. I hope you do intend on sticking around the boards as you provide much needed comic relief!
Filling 4 GM spots is not difficult, we have done it before, and I'm confident in the core-group of guys we have here. Everyone gets angry and posts stupid shit sometimes, but they still love this site and this league or else they would have not invested as much time as all of us have in it. We will find suitable replacements for the GMs that are leaving, but I also hope that these guys plan on remaining part of the community.
We will obviously keep everyone posted on the recruitment, and if anyone has anybody in mind that they think would be BBKL-calibre please let myself, Mike or Shep know and we will be sure to add their name to the mix in the CC discussions!
Thanks guys!
- ADMIN TEAM -

I appreciate it Mash buddy and thanks again. But really, all Mike had to do was take SOME responsibility in the fact that he was wrong to remove me like that and I'd remain the GM of the Devils. He didn't so that's that.

Speaking of the CC, as someone who has spent an inordinate amount of time here, I would like to submit an application in replacing Kareem's spot. Since Kareem is staying, he would be a good mentor to bounce questions and ideas off of since we talk regularly on MSN.

1) Very well said Mash, true in all regards.
2) Scott I would also like to thank you for the early work you did in the league. Being a Dad should be good fun.
Tony, it sucks to lose you, fit it rather easily to our community and I hope you stick around.
Kareem, when your period ends and you want back in, I think despite your abrasiveness you were adding a lot to the league, and would prefer you actually just never left.
Chad, all the best buddy. Obviously we'd help in any way we could.
OT) Chris, Kareem hasn't been a member of the CC for some time.

As the old Liberal crank of this league i have to say a few things.....
A lot of you act a bit childish and take this stuff way too serious. It is a source of entertainment and a hobby. When i get harassed for activity and not answering pms right away i used to get upset and try to explain but sooner or later i just said fuck it. There is a fine line between being over-active, active and contributing and not worthy of a GM spot due to no activity. Did anyone ever consider they spend too much time on BBKL? Getting bored or losing interest is a direct result of too much activity. Some of you need to get together and join a yahoo league where the goal is to see who can trade the most and still win. People who fail to trade as much as the avid traders in here get labeled wrong. This is a keeper league forever. Not 1 or 2 year. If you are not looking down the road you are doing an injustice.
Scott man, I really hope you dont leave. Getting the great news you got does not have to change your tenure as a great GM in this league. I got a fucking kid, wife, work fulltime, lots of friends and a booked schedule. I still get my time on here. That does not have to change for you. You dont need to spend as much time on BBKL. Do not think your attendance rate is a level to determine if you should stay on. You have helped build this league and are an integral part of it. Whatever shit has happened between you and Mike, I am sure can be remedied. (wtf happened?) Just take a step back before you make such a drastic decision.
Tony, I hope your plan works and I am pulling for you....wink wink...lol
Kareem, you got fucked over at the wrong time. it happens. Kinda happened to me too. I think you may regret your decision. You could also benefit from laying off for awhile. This league needs you. We have had and will continue to have many battles but I have built a respect for you and actually kinda get you. You know what i mean. I am pretty fucking upset at my team and the trades i made going into the playoffs and feel pretty let down but once i'm out ill just come on every few days and do some posting and talk some hockey. You should consider the same approach.
Boys, you guys are throwing away a great little thing here for no reason, really. I understand that we are all quite competitive and all have different backgrounds and real life issues/time constraints but that is what makes this site unique. We come from countries all over the world, provinces in all of Canada and various States in the US. We are nearing the end of year 3. The groundwork and dirty work has been laid. Activity does not have to be as intense to still have a successful community here. I think you guys should reconsider some of your decisions. Hopefully you do.

yep, giving up a spot in the best fantasy league in the world because a couple of your guys got hurt or you dont get along with someone is just silly, but decisions have been made. time to move on.
we've got some exciting replacement possibilities which could make this league even better in the end.

I agree with everything you said Kyle (& Anton of course, man's a genius). But to show the small 'c' conservative in addition to my liberal views: should we really be asking them to stay?
I'm sick of guys quitting when something doesn't go their way or their feelings are hurt - fucking put the purse down and take your lumps with the rest of us. At the same time, if your life is busy that's fine, you don't think you can commit a reasonable amount of time, sure; we understand and have shown consistently that we welcome the return of guys that handle themselves in a certain manner. The lack of grace, respect or humility shown lately makes me question whether we're better off w/o, regardless of the pluses they added.
With all that said, I'm reasonably confident that with the passing of some time, we'll reunite

Kyle, I always thought you were a pretty simple guy with a perverse loyalty to the Bruins, but that was a great post.
For those wondering, I think Scott's feeling pretty good about his decision. I spoke to him for an hour last night to try and convince him to just blow off some steam for a few weeks and come back -- I know what happened with Mike left a sour taste in his mouth (which is only part of the reason he quit anyway). But I'm not in Scott's shoes, Tony's shoes, Kareem's shoes, or Chad's shoes. They all have real-life issues with real-life consequences that very well may take away from their talented abilities to build a quality franchise. We shouldn't judge -- though I'm more upset about Kareem's decision than anyone else's for the reason that I think he's being a wee bit impetuous.
I just hope the BBKL comes together to bring in new GMs, nurture their abilities, and guide them towards being the quality newcomers like Peter and Josh, who have added a nice blend of humour, intelligence, and personality to the league. In a way, the outgoing GMs have left a mark by ensuring their knowledge and experience have been passed down.
I hope that we safeguard the New Jersey, Washington, and Long Island franchises until we know that these guys are confident their time in the BBKL has passed.

We hate to see these guys leave, however, we are also a league trying to grow...we can't let people just quit and then take it back right away. They have all elected to give up their spots and if they wish to re-enter the league then they will be more than welcome to ask to return when they feel they want to, at which time (providing we have an opening) they will be discussed as candidates. These three are all fantastic members of the community and I really hope they stay and continue to post as they make for great reads, but we are a league and we have procedures that must be followed to keep the league consistent.

A lot of good posts in here. And I pretty much agree with each and everyone one of them. I don't think theres a doubt in my mind that all 4 GMs were integral parts of the league. Putting all the differences aside, I think all 4 guys will be missed.
I agree with Chris, Kareems decision upsets me the most. I may have overreacted with my reaction but I think like Kareem said "if you can dish it, you have to take it". I'm sure I didnt hurt any feelings and I think I can speak for all the GMs that Kareem would be a welcomed addition to the league if he chooses to return. I hope he does.
As for Scott, I think we all recognize how much he did for the league - especially in the early days when he ran the show. Although abrasive at times, he definitely put in the time and effort and did a lot for the league. Good luck with everything.
Tony has been a key and vital member of the BBKL since he joined. He's grown into one of the top GMs in the league and it sucks that he has to quit and leave the fate of his team in anothers hands. Again, once he gets his shit together in RL, I hope he comes back. (he's probably quitting so he can come back as the sharks...sneaky!)

You guys should absolutely find a replacement GM for Washington, and ASAP. Waiting for a manager that isn't returning is counterproductive and pointless.
P.S. I obviously plan on talking hockey with you past this ska, and hopefully getting together for a round or two of golf.

I know several people have flirted with leaving before...are these final decisions with everyone involved?
This is a demanding league and commands a lot of our time but where's the hurt in just taking a few days off here and there? We can't be expected to spend every day looking at the board or checking stats but not watching the league like a hawk everyday certainly keeps me from being burned out by it. During the week, I work so I don't have a lot of time to keep up with things but I do the best I can. The weekend is usually the time when I'm able focus some my free time on this place and the league.
I'll be getting married next May so there'll be a stretch next year where I'll be unavailable but I'll be back. I have no plans to leave permanently and I hope this league can carry on through (potentially) losing some key members and I'm sure we'll have more come and go. It's hard to replace years Scott, Kareem and Tony...the next guys will have big shoes to fill.
I didn't really get to talk to Chad much while he was here but I wish him well as he goes through a tough time. I'm sorry he had to leave but his departure is very understandable.

Class act by Mash. No matter what happened in the end, he's the lone Admin standing in the midst of all this - and still handles it with pride and world class. Your job here at BBKL is probably harder than my real life job.
He's also right. Finding 4 GM's is not tough to do, it's just that seeing the 4 go is the tough part, and people dwell on it and don't wanna think about making 4 new relationships with 4 new (maybe old) people. I'm sort of the back of the pack dude who joined later than MOST GM's here but have pretty much grown myself into this league enough to know a few personalities of the GM's here, but not well enough to make any kool comments, so leave it at that here - one of the serious posts you'll receive from me. (i'm still stoned tho)
