I'm a Cheater

Today, I was talking to Chuck. I made him an offer for Zach Parise. I offered him Guillaume Latendresse, Ryan Johansen or Chris Stewart (I had a deal in place for him if he preferred Stewart over RyJo), Vlad Namestnikov +(+). Chuck stalled a bit and wasn't responding. Then he finally came back with a counter offer that just didn't make sense for me to do. He wanted Nathan Horton, Chris Stewart, Sean Couturier. I quickly declined that offer as it would really dash my hopes of what I wanted to accomplish landing Zach. Anyway, I went on to tell Chuck that I'd be more open to moving Sean Couturier in the off season and we could talk then.. and I'd also be more willing to move Horton if Latendresse was healthy. Then, the fatal mistake I made was saying to him.. "Heck, I'd even be willing to trade Parise back to you in the offseason at a cheaper price then what I'm giving you". Now, I didn't mean it to sound like this was a rental situation, just that the option was there. I just want to build the best team possible and losing 3 very key parts of my forward core for 1 beast wouldn't be helping matters. I was just trying to leave al options on the table for Chuck.. obviously to make him comfortable with the idea of moving Parise for my playoff stretch.

I'm making this thread because Chuck ran to Shiv to tell him about this. It really made me feel as if I'm doing something wrong when that was not my intention at all. I was looking for the right deal for Zach and giving Chuck options as to maybe gain value later on. I can admit to making a mistake. Me saying/thinking something like that is inexcusable. Now I ask everyone to think about what has happened here and decide what happens next. I feel like a piece of shit right now and started this thread to get this off of my chest. I've never cheat when it comes to BBKL, and I never want to, EVER! So, if you guys are seriously angered by this and view it as shady, please say so. If you want to talk to me about this for further clarification on what exactly happened, please message me on MSN and I'll explain it a little better. And lastly, if you guys view this as an attempt to cheat, please say so and I'll pack my things and leave.

Thanks to all who read this.. I am sorry for doing this. I really am. The last thing I want to do is be viewed as a shady person. That's not me at all.

Scott, I told you this on MSN: No one in this league thinks you're a cheater. I think it was a miscommunication and that's all. Keep your head up buddy.

FTR, Chuck didn't run to me like a rat lol. Scott conveyed what he meant in the wrong way and Chuck just wanted to make sure no rules were being broken. Both stand up guys.

Alright my 2 cents here.

As far as I'm concerned it was an honest mistake, I don't feel in the least that Scott was attempting to cheat in anyway; nor was I ever accusing him of it. The way that things were brought up to me made me feel uneasy about how it could have been viewed by other GM's in the league so I went to get a second opinion. Shiv confirmed my uneasiness about it.

Scott buddy it was an honest mistake, no one here is accusing you of any wrong doing. We've all made minor mistakes that I guess could constitute cheating: how many times have I traded with Paul only to find out hes under the floor or has too many contracts and we have to adjust the deal. Mistakes happen, were all human here.

I can't speak for everyone but I can tell you that you still have complete respect from me. You're one of the founders of the best keeper league I've ever been a part of. You gave so much time an effort into this league at the expense of god knows what else. Plus you're the top GM in this league as far as I'm concerned.

If the CC for any reason has to discuss this I'd like it known that I dont feel in anyway that Scott was trying to ircumvent any rules. As far as I'm concerned this whole issues just dies here and we all move on.

Just understand I didn't make this thread for pity or for attention.. I just needed to come clean and get a feel from everyone about what happened here. I'm not a cheater, I didn't mean to cheat, I never want to cheat, and I most importantly don't want to be seen as a cheat. I honestly feel about 3 inches tall right now..

Going to start by saying that I hate the idea that GMs think it's okay to make gentlemen's agreements off of the sheet/BBKL because it's not police-able, and that trade-backs/rentals are just an all around ugly situation. I am not saying you did either of these in this situation.

Although I'm not a fan of the implications you said, I also don't believe it got to a serious stage (from what I see here). Suggesting the rental is bad, but saying,

I guess the rest of the conversation has some impact (ie -> planning the trade back, or suggesting what the buy back would be); but I really don't see this as anything more then trade talks in this example,
