What did I do now.
I got
1st entry pick (21st) + Lattendresse + 3rd + 5th + Tyler R. + Justin Jokinen for Smyth + Frolov + 1st 2011.
Sorry but Lattendresse brings me PIM, Hits, low Cap hit and goals. I m happy with the deals.

We'll see what happens with Latendresse...he's a high stock guy, maybe he's got it put together now in Minnesota. Sharp is the proven commodity and I consider him the better player in the deal...I would've hung onto him after you traded him for Hossa.

Those are decent returns...I don't blame you for trading Smyth and his contract...that's why I traded him to you in the first place. You could've stopped at just the Hossa trade and you would've come out ahead. I should've reached out to you when you threw Hossa on the block because I would've come to you with an offer. You're a fast worker...

Just remember Latendresse is an RFA and is getting a new contract so I am sure it will be a decent raise over 800 k

Value wise, yeah he probably could have gotten more for Latendresse, that being said, Lats is only 22 and has a boatload of talent...This is far from one sided...The problem with alot of you is that you can't see past what have you done for me lately. Latendresse killed it in his brief stint with Minnesota (25 goals in 55 games). If he continues to improve and get ice time he could be a sleeper for 35+ goals and a boatload of hits, he's one rise, meanwhile Hossa is on the decline, still a great player, dont get me wrong, but nowhere near the 100 point superstar he was a few years ago.

i'm with kareem here.
Latendresse is in an excellent situation, and power-forwards break out a little later then most prospects....
he'll be top PP in min, which is actually shaping up to be a decent power play unit (back end of Barker & Burns,w/ Koviu in the middle is a strong start by itself) and he'll be expected to score in Minny....
Hossa is aging and in a secondary role....
with that said I see why bryan would do this too.. the guy increased his value huge with him, like when dealing with investments, sometimes you accept the profit you've made in a risky opportunity and turn it into something more stable.

none of this accounts for
1) turning a stable asset into a risky asset. latendresse could easily slump.
2) accounting for the fact that sharp is in fact not 30 yet and in a great position to produce.
even if you argue that its not THAT bad, you can definitely make the argument that frank didnt shop sharp around enough. imo this was a classic case of trading something (hossa) for something that feel helps you more (sharp) and then trading what you got for something less than you gave up in the first place. decreasing marginal returns.

Right off the bat I think Sharp for Latendresse is a win, I'd do it myself without a second thought. I think Latendresse is underrated, have since he was drafted, and I think Sharp is overrated (periphery stats aren't that great), and hes likely to be dealt. The real question mark is the Hossa deal, and I agree with you, Frank did not do his due diligence, and likely could have gotten more, I stated as much above. However I don't think it's a bad deal.
