Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
Jarred Tinordi just signed a contract with the Montreal Canadiens. As far as contracts go on my team, I was at 50 before Tinordi signed. Do I need to make a trade?
Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
im not 100% sure how that works, but I was thinking about this kind of a situation earlier today..
no sure the precedant but I would assume yes?
or do we allow contract slides.

Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
When I was doing my roster sheet prior to the first roster submission, Mike told me I wasn't allowed to slide contracts. Maybe ELCs don't count until the following year?
Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
Obviously need a discussion on it.
However I'd lean towards sliding or not still counts as a contract, which i believe is true for the NHL.

Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
if the Tinordi contract doesnt count then all junior players contracts should not count correct?Nick wroteCOLONObviously need a discussion on it.

No. All junior contracts count, we don't do the slide thing.bills09 wroteCOLONif the Tinordi contract doesnt count then all junior players contracts should not count correct?Nick wroteCOLONObviously need a discussion on it.

If we want to allow exemptions for people signing during the season that would be a modification to the current rules.
I suggest allowing the GM one roster period to get drop a contract.
Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
I propose no move is necessary considering the contract wasn't signed prior to the season. In addition, if we're determining waiver exemptions prior to the season opener, why can't we treat Tinordi's contract as one that's not even functional until the following season?

Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
Seems to be simple (good) and make sense to me as well.
Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
It makes zero sense.
For one thing, the contract isn't even functional until the following season. Tinordi cannot be called up until after his junior season ends. Secondly, it's not fair to teams at the limit; they shouldn't have to make room for a random ELC signing -- they shouldn't have to account for those contracts that they would otherwise account for had this rule been in place prior to the season opener. Every GM here has submitted their rosters after some turnover to meet the 50 contract cap limit. Now we have to account for those in-season ELC signings from a guy who won't be playing in the NHL this year?
Retarded.

Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
I've got like 20 contracts that won't be playing in the NHL this year.

Sure, but did any of them sign in-season?

No, but that's just something we have to deal with if it happens.Cuntacular Chris wroteCOLONSure, but did any of them sign in-season?

Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
I'm shocked that this is the first time this issue has come up in the two years this league has been around.
Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
Probably because nobody is ever at 50

Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
Yea, well... as a rebuilding team, it's important to have as many assets as possible.
Re: Question about Contract Limits & ELCs
I'm trying to. Some people are twisting my arm trying to get a variety of different players cheap lol
