Fuck.

I've been out of it for a year and a bit (worked at a private club for bout 10 years with 6 of them being in a pro shop) so I don't know what the "hot" items are now a days.

If you have game though, I suggest taking a hard look at anything Titleist. GOAT golf company imo. I still have my DCI 981s (irons) from like 12 years ago and they are still bangin.

Calloway has always made good woods too.

Yeah I've been pleased with my calloway x series irons for past year. Really need to get a buddy to go spend an afternoon at the big golf shop and test some different loft/shaft flex combos. One of my buddies ordered a high core driver from japan and its pretty badass we are far from great golfers, but we can notice a chnage.

In that case, I would suggest taking a look at anything new that Taylormade or Calloway has out now a days.

Good call on spending an afternoon at a big golf shop testing all that shit. Kick points and loft and shaft flex all make such a huge difference. Long gone are the days where you simply bought a driver with a senior, regular or stiff flex.

Yeah, I'm an avid golfer myself. I'm actually scheduled to play on some course in Kitchener this Saturday with my uncle, cousin and father. I haven't played as much the last couple of years, but when I was going consistently I had a pretty decent 12 handicap. Hopefully I can get back to that with some practice, and more regulaur tee times.

As for which club to use, I suggest going to Golf Town and testing out clubs, even ask to be custom fitted with the right clubs, I had the latter down with my current set (Dunlop) and have been very happy with them since.

TaylorMade drivers are fantastic, particularly the R11 series driver, it allows you to customize the weight distribution to change: the loft, face angle and flight path. That being said, TaylorMade clubs are expensive, and the difference it provides to mediocre golfers is minimal at best. Unless you are a scratch golfer or close to it I would not recommend paying the price it costs to purchase TaylorMade equipment. It's like buying high end goalie pads to play street hockey.

You may as well buy knockoff clubs then.

Taylormade, Calloway, Titleist, Ping. All of them are in the same price range.

I personally don't fuck with knock offs.

Yeah I'm big on snagging the one year old product line. Get the quality and newish tech, and for the most part your loosing some minor new feature and different color scheme with $100 savings

Good strategy, my father does the same thing. Another good strategy is to buy clubs in the winter, they are out of season, and subsequently in the lower end of their price range.

that's the best way to do it man unless you can get the current years stuff at wholesale. The change in technology from year to year is not THAT huge.

Used to have game myself - member at the sault private course from 10-16 years old and actually had one really strong tourney showing when I was 12/13 (junior still)- Robinson classic - shot at opening day 80 and backed it up with an 86 - won the putter I'm still using (2200 softie cobra).

As for woods I've never found a set I like. 975J driver, talor made 3, cobra gravity back 5 and a nickent- genex (?)

I worry less about my score now, more about # of lost balls, and beers left in the cooler.

Hit 310 on the par 5 18th today at Indian Wells...By far the longest drive of my career.

congrats man. Always feels great when you crush one.

I use to bomb it around 290ish average with the driver.

I'm usually awful with the driver (low with a fade), I hit 250+ with the 5 iron and up, and 150 with the pitching wedge though.

Unfortunately I am still fucking shit with the putter, so I finished with an overall score of 91 on a par 72, which is fucking grotesque.

I really should, unfortunately it's going to be hard to find time moving forward, I got a new job painting and have a tougher course load in the second summer semester.

Still, I think I might try and play a round of golf (including one hour practice beforehand) once a week to improve my game.

If golf was drivers and putters, I'd be the best.

I feel the same way about irons...I can drive as far with my 5 iron as most can with their 3 woods off the tee, and about as far as most hit off the fairway with a fairway wood.
