Nice deal for both...I asked Anton about Versteeg but I don't think I could match an offer like that. Wheeler has had to keep his bags packed...how many teams has he been on in the last week?
Between seeing Brouwer, Byfuglien, and Versteeg being traded in the last week...you wonder which one of these guys will still be in Chicago next year due to their impending cap hell this summer.

I think byfuglien has earned his keep in chicago....i think guys like Versteeg is gone (Leafs
) and Sopel + 2nd is traded for a 3rd and Huet is burried in the minors.

I hope your right there Steve, but I can't see it happening. No way Chicago takes a loss on Versteeg. They could get value for him, and bury Sopel and Huet in the minors if they need)

Sopel has been halfway decent during the playoffs...they might be able to unload him in a trade to snag a pick, to at least get something. He's an expiring contract after next year so some team might take him on. Huet is going to be tough to move with multiple years left and he's making more than a guy like Tim Thomas or what a team might spend on a UFA like Turco.
Campbell would be the natural choice to move but he's no where near being worth his huge salary and multiple years remaining. They might have to eat his contract and much like the Sharks, just piece together their blueline around three guys. Hjalmarsson is a must to re-sign but his stock is rising. Hendry is a decent 5th or 6th guy and he's a RFA. Potentially, they'll have to go out and find a couple more defensemen on the cheap to fit under the cap.
Much like what the Wings had to go through last summer...the Hawks have to lose someone because of cap issues. Luckily for them, they'll be able to get something for these guys since they're under contract and not lose them outright as UFAs like the Wings did with Hossa, Samuelsson and Kopecky. They'll be able to fetch some nice future pieces by moving a guy like Versteeg, Byfuglien or even Sharp. Maybe they can snag a defenseman in the process. I really think their situation isn't nearly as bad as it seems but they probably won't get full value from teams considering everyone knows they're desperate to drop salary.
