For one year I might maybe make the play-offs. You were harping to me in PMs about the use of one year players, old players, etc Russel is only 24, has a roster slot for the next decade, and puts up some nice stats.

I was planning on taking Jagr and trading him to a top team anyways. Nick came to me with a great offer and I took it.

how so lol.. worst case scenario, you gave russell for jagr.. if he ever makes over 5.5M you can still trade him for more than russell..

Maybe there was more breaking news today I missed out on (I've kept up to date on all Jagr on-goings until today).

But we hear it EVERY year that Jagr is coming back. I realize this year is a bit different, but not only do I not see him coming back, IF he does come back, I cannot in a million years seeing him being signed for MORE than 3 million.

There has always been chatter, but not of this magnitude.

Every rumor I heard is two teams are interested openly which is Pittsburgh and Detroit and hes talking with one other team that is keeping quiet and the rumor is he will sign for around 3.5 mill to 4 mill which I think is going to be too much if that is the case.

He said he would only go to five teams, Washington, Pittsburgh, New York R, Detroit and Montreal. There are also rumours that one of those teams offered him a one year 5m deal. Hell if sundin can get one year 10m why can't jagr get 5 lol and yes yes I know it was a pro rated contract and only actually got 6.something but that's not the point.

All I've seen so far are rumors or contract talk from his own agent, nothing reliable.

To be fair Sundin was a half season removed from the NHL, not 4, and has from day 1 was a more complete player - not quiet the solo goal scorer. Although support (or primary) talent was also very different.

Saying 4M is too much is forgetting who we're talking about. Players of his caliber are insanely rare, there is not one every (draft) year.

I actually heard that montreal might might sign him to play with Plekanec. That wouldn't surprise me.
