Ryan Ellis will make the NHL next year sometime. He will win the Calder in 2012-2013. The kid is just too good.

I dunno about that. I like Ellis' offensive talent but this kid needs to season in the AHL to see if he can handle playing against men.
I doubt very much Trotz would give Ellis a look just yet.. Trotz isn't known for having PP specialists or smallish defenseman with limited pro experience. IMO, Ellis is still 2-3 years away.. not offensively but physically and defensively.

everything you said is how it should "normally" happen. this is gonna be a story. small kid breaking the norm. if any small prospect can do it, it's ellis.

We'll see but I doubt it. Unless he's scoring at 100 point clip or Nashville suffers a ton of injuries on their D core next season I can't see it. The Preds have a deep D pool so Ellis would have to have some luck go his way to become a full timer. I definitely think Ellis is ready offensively but it's yet to be determined if he's ready in the other aspects of the game.

i actually think nashville has a huge piece they can trade. there were even talks of it this year. and ellis would automatically crack a lot of rosters in the nhl. even if they dont trade him, i see him getting called up mid season for a shot. and he will be in their line up by 2012.

I'm not an Ellis fan, he has amazing offensive talents, but he is undersized and slow at a position that typically requires both...I literally can't think of a single defenceman like Ryan Ellis who overcame the odds and become a star, that does not bode well for him.

This lack of skating ability that everyone mentions about Ryan Ellis is SO OVERBLOWN its crazy. It's not the strongest part of his game yes, but people use it as a scapegoat for why Ellis' size deficiency cannot be overcome.
The kid was OHL Player of the Year (4th D Man in History to do it), Team Canada Captain, Spitfire Elite Blueliner on Championship teams with Fowler and he's 3rd in PPG in the CHL, putting up 101 points (1st D Man in 17 years to do it).
I can't think of a single d-man like Ryan Ellis either.

If "everyone" agrees it is an issue, chances are it is an issue.
