I made a trade.. yes seriously.

San Jose Sharks Receive:
Anti Miettinen + Anton Babchuk + 2012 1st (CAR) + 2012 1st (FLA) + 2012 3rd (LAK)

Toronto Maple Leafs Receive:
Cal Clutterbuck + Tom Kostopolous + 2012 1st (NYR)

Confirmed

Good set of talks, I gave up one of my favourite players on my team, but thought it was good value.

Great value for you. Got the guy I wanted though... overpaid. I can afford it.

I can't believe no one else has ragged on Neel for calling Kostopolous one of his favorite players...

Well, now that the exaggerations are out of the way.

Really good deal all'n'all, no clear winner or loser that I can see.

Clutterbuck and Cooke is a very formidable duo...But now Mike has sort of pigeon holed himself into a periphery based team, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just interesting.

Really?

I think it's a pretty clear win for Neel...Two higher picks, a reliable periphery forward and a scoring defenceman for essentially Cal Clutterbuck, who isn't even as good as Matt Cooke, who I sold for ALOT less.

http://bbkl.hockey.cbssports.com/player ... :p/scoring?

He has an important role on any team in the league... 20g , 300+ hits, pk2 and lots of SOG... he's a very very nice piece.

And you talk about 1st rounders being over-valued. Now I definitely agree but Clutterbuck helps you win today, and for the next 10 years. Top 10 picks MIGHT help you in 3-4 years. Anton Babchuk and Antti Miettinen, although decent players but are very much replacable. Clutterbuck's of the world are very hard to find.

I think Mike's taking a page out of yours truly and building it properly. Watch out ladies.

Thanks Nick, I hadn't seen his stats before...

picks take time to develop yeah but top 10 picks have huge trade value too. i love how giving up two top 10 picks in a deal for clutterbuck makes total sense to you yet giving up 30th overall for steckel doesnt. you're a funny guy scott.

Because Steckel's replacable. He'll lose his LW eligibility next year too. Clutterbuck's huge numbers along with 20 goals is tough to find. Does Steckel even have 20 points?

ten years my ass, chances are with the way he plays he wont sustain that level for 5, maybe he has 2 or 3 more solid years like this one (if he can even match it) and by the time hes 30 he goes into a fast and steep decline, neel wins the deal now and in the long term... however, mike wins too, although he overpaid he can definitely afford it, and he got the player type he needed and it will help a great deal in the peripheries

Ignorance to the number of 1st rounders who never make a real impact is just RAMPANT here in the BBKL... We'll be on our 3rd entry draft here in the BBKL, how many have drafted an impact player on their team? Meanwhile Scott has made it to two finals, and went #1 in the league's regular season twice.

Ask me how I know? I've drafted like crazy the past 2 years, the best thing they've done for me is increase in value so that I can trade them for actual NHLers.... Let's not forget Mike got a mid-1st back.

Value-wise, no doubt Mike paid, but he got THE BEST hit guy in the league, and he's not a single category impact, not old, and not overpaid.

Cal Clutterbuck is a sik asset if he can maintain 20 goal production, but I've watched him alot the last three seasons, and remain unconvinced that this is any more than a one year wonder for him.

In my mind he has less value than Matt Cooke, who's market was substantially lower than Clutterbuck by the looks of this trade.
