If Lidstrom retires it will be a lingering decision, Markov will be a July 1st signing, so I can't see it personally. Nor can I see Markov signing if there is a chance Lidstrom resigns (means less pp time). My guess is Markov resigns, OR is heavily pursued by the: Leafs, Rangers, Lightning and Devils.

Why not? Elite puck mover with tremendous skating ability, the talent to run a QB and log big minutes at both ends of the ice, and only 27 to boot.

The only significant knock on Pitkanen is his locker room presence, he was rumored to be a cancer in Philadelphia and Edmonton, but to date that has not be an issue in Carolina, and I would like to think that with our strong core of leaders in the room it will continue to be a non issue.

There are only about 3 teams that will have the space AND the money to sign him. That is why my hopes are still there.
