Yeah just like we did last year...and the year before.

I love this game. last 20 games we are SICK make a great push then blow it in the last 4 games and miss the playoffs and finish in 9th or 10th.

At least this year its fun to watch because we don't have our first. hahaha.

To be honest.. we kinda fucked that up last year.

This streak depends entirely on Kessel and Reims staying hot. As streaky as Kessel is I have faith he can keep his play up, Reims on the other hand looked absolutely gassed tonight. Kid hasn't played over 70 pro games in his entire career (ECHL to NHL). No more than 26 in a year, and here he has played 17+ in like 2 months. I hope he'll persevere though. Would love to see our playoff drought end.

Fucking Giggy, if you aren't 100% Don't fucking dress.
He was clearly still hampered, he never found his net all game. Both goals were the same, slide way too far over, and kick a rebound out to the front of the net. Those plays should of both hit a goalie square in the middle, not as your sliding across the net. You are a big fucking goalie, but the boards behind the net don't need you blocking them..

Leafs looked dead by the third and the defense looked panicked and unorganized in front of him. The GWG was off a screen, but still poor positioning prior to the screen. 3 Overtime losses now to Ottawa, Pittsburgh and Atlanta = 3 points, where we coulda been... Hope Reims is okay, Gus has been great in the AHL for people wondering btw.

blowing that lead was indeed amazing.

has there ever been a leaf captain as bad as phaneuf? i swear he is clinically retarded.

20 seconds left. won faceoff to dion. he stands still in our zone for 5 seconds. skates towards aulie. skates into aulie. bobbles puck. ices with 12 seconds left.

And of course we have Komisarek who stands in front of Giggy like a fucking statue. Either get the fuck out of the way or block the shot. What a screw up. Fuck

Phaneuf has the skill and the size but his mental game is atrocious, doesn't think the game. Komisarek screened Giggy on the last goal, but after Giggy gave up the first one the confidence of the defense collapsed. They were all collapsing in front of him cause he keeps kicking rebounds out right to the front of the net. The leafs play differently infront of him, cause they have to collapse to the net n clear stupidly large rebounds. Reims meanwhile is positionally sound and absorbs those shots, if Reimer was in net no way Komi backs up like that. Defense looked clueless after the first goal.

Question, icing with 12 seconds to go.. or even after Atlanta scored.. why not call a fucking time out? The only time you don't normally is you are behind by 1 and want to save it for those last 60 seconds, but in this situation, why not call it?

OTL to Pitts, Ottawa and Atlanta.. 3 fucking points left on the board.. We'd be 1 point out right now.. ONE.

The general hockey intelligence of our group appears to be very low.

Komi is the worst, but Aulie, Phaneuf, Kessel, are all well below average.

Aulie is a rookie, can't hate much on him making mental mistakes. Phaneuf is being exposed with the ice time, he even looks damn fatigued by the third period of every game. Agreed fully though in general the IQ is severely lacking, gunnar may be one of the better ones. But Reims as I said makes it easy on them, he eats those shots square, while Giggy makes them play a collapse system where they get turned inside out and screen him.

Next 3 games: Pitt, Philly, Chicago - pitt and philly on a back to back. There goes the season.

We got scheduled for two back to backs in a row?
This back to back was strange already, having a 7 pm game in toronto on a saturday then a 5 pm sunday one in Atlanta? So the fans can get home to watch the Oscars?

Tonight's contest was the most frustrating game I have watched since Boyd Devereaux scored a hat trick in game 82 to push us from 5th last to 7th last in 2009. We were completely outplayed from the puck drop, and the worst part was that even though we had a 2 goal lead, you knew one bad bounce and we were in danger of losing it all...

The puck movement from the back end is just not good enough, outside of Lebda and Gunnarsson every single one of our defenceman struggled to get the puck out of the zone tonight, and frankly there are no excuses for that. Our third and fourth lines contribute zero offense, and to top it off are hurting us with costly turnovers and poor dump ins. Barring a trade for a PMD and secondary two way scorer, I see no reason to root for the playoffs. It will end in frustrating nights like tonight, far more often than not.

Phaneuf isn't a smart decision maker, never was, but if you look at the last two games as a whole, not just isolated samples, you will see that he wasn't the problem. In fact, he was one of our more reliable defenceman, but we need to pair both him and Schenn with mobile puck distributing defenceman to get the most out of them.

He looks worst though as the game goes on, especially late third periods, he honestly seems damn tired. The book on the leafs defense is out, take the puck behind the net. I can't count how many times I've seen teams do this, go behind the net, draw 2 defenders and hit the open man streaking to the front of the net, it works flawlessly. Reims has allowed the leaf defenders to push wingers to the boards rather than collapsing in front of him, which seems to have worked quite well. But as you said neither phaneuf nor Schenn can get the puck out with too much regularity.

i cringe when i see our captain on the ice when the game is on the line...and that's not good.

i just honestly don't see things going well for phaneuf as captain here. not at all. he can barely form a thought off the ice and seems like he can barely make a decision on it.
