I should make this information freely available to keep it fair. Godard will get 10 games automatic. Gillies and Konopoka have both been called in for in person hearings rather than on the phone (means the NHL can suspend for over 6 games if they choose to, not possible if its a phone meeting). Haley hasn't been called in for an in person meeting.

They said Godard might not actually get 10. But only lowered by a couple as Pittsburgh could argue there was a player going to fight his goalie and there was nobody around to stop it. So the goalie was vulnerable or something.

But still could get 10+

I don't think he should get more then 1 game... player going down the ice to fight the goalie is BS... no team should ever watch that happen, i hope there is a clip of Bylsma tapping goddard on the shoulder.

The automatic 10 game is for leaving the bench for the direct reason of fighting.

It's the rule, not my "opinion".

Ye, there are situations where the 'spirit' of the rule needs to be looked at.

The National Hockey League has suspended Pittsburgh's Eric Godard for 10 games, while Trevor Gillies of the New York Islanders received a nine-game suspension and Isles forward Matt Martin drew a four-game suspension for their actions during Friday's game on Long Island.

The disciplinary actions were announced by NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell following in-person hearings with the Islanders on Saturday evening in Buffalo, where the Isles play Sunday afternoon.

Godard drew an automatic 10-game suspension under Rule 70.11 for coming off the bench to become involved in a third-period fight after New York's Michael Haley squared off with Penguins goaltender Brent Johnson. Godard received a double minor for roughing and a double game misconduct.
23 games total.
