Why would you add Vandermeer on top of a 1st rounder?

LOL he comes crawling out

Um yea, to be fair, Vandermeer was expendable, and being it kind of a weak draft year, Brewer's monstrous periphery stat production is actually quite attractive to me... Lupul is NOT a better return... take a good look.

Brewer isn't the most fantastic player and definitely not what people have expected out of a 5th overall pick player, and he really lacks in points and SOG production is all which could be huge, but I think most of you GM's aren't dumb enough to give me anyone I please because it's the 1st rounder nowadays anyway.

I don't think it's rape as Brewer does put up nice H2H stats, and his contract runs out at years end. That said, I personally wouldn't have paid this much to acquire him.

i was thinking of another defenceman rather than vandermeer. Either way he did pay a lot.
