The 2011 Ottawa/St. Louis 2nd round pick dilemna

Okay, I want this resolved once and for all...the Ottawa pick was traded to Calgary from Los Angeles yesterday evening. I'm trying to find the deal where Florida moved that pick to Calgary though.
To Los Angeles:
Joe Corvo

To Calgary:
Davis Drewiske
2nd rd pick 2011 (OTT)
http://www.bbklhockey.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2458

My contention is that I've had the Ottawa 2nd since I acquired it from Toronto earlier this season.

I just ran this by Shiv via MSN so he knows where I'm coming from. My dispute is over the 2011 Ottawa 2nd that I have (with proof) and my belief that Florida incorrectly had the Ottawa pick added to his team when he should've had St. Louis' pick instead. The confusion most likely stemmed from Shep and Bill swapping team identities...hence the idea that Ottawa and St. Louis' picks could've been mistakenly claimed.

I tried to re-trace the steps through the "Confirmed Trades" thread and the trades made on this board since we switched to the new forum.

I don't see anywhere that Florida acquired Ottawa's pick but I do see where he got the St. Louis pick...
To Los Angeles:

Lee Stempniak

To Florida:

Leland Irving
2011 2nd Rounder (STL)
Los Angeles acquired that pick from St. Louis (it's original home)...
To Los Angeles:

J.P. Dumont
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
2011 2nd Rounder (STL)
2011 3rd Rounder (PHX)

To St. Louis:

Marian Hossa
Ville Koistinen
Riley Holzapfel

Now, here's my side of things...I acquired the Ottawa pick from Toronto
Detroit gets:
2011 2nd Round Entry Draft Pick (OTT)

Toronto gets:
Bryan Bickell
Brian Lashoff
http://www.bbklhockey.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1861

Toronto got that pick from Ottawa
To Toronto:

Marek Zidlicky
Magnus Paajarvi Svensson
2011 2nd Rounder (OTT)

To Ottawa:

Pavel Kubina
Colin Wilson
2010 7th Rounder (NSH)
2011 7th Rounder (TOR)

I hope this doesn't get Chris in trouble but I want the proper pick to be in my possession but for the other pick to be properly identified as St. Louis' 2nd instead of Ottawa.

Thanks!

I landed the pick in the Ovey deal

Therefore that pick came from Shep....

Not sure why I would get into trouble here....Is there any way to get into the old website, I'm not 100% where I got that pick but I had it since way before the new website was made.

The thing is that you definitely didn't have both the St. Louis and Ottawa picks. There is proof you acquired the St. Louis pick but not the Ottawa pick. To me, I think there might've been a mix up where you thought you had the Ottawa pick through the team-swapping that went on. How else would it be that you don't have the St. Louis pick anymore? I too agree, you shouldn't get into any trouble...it's just a misunderstanding. I don't bring this up unless I got this pick in a trade...I'm protecting my own interest.

The original pick i had could of very well been ST.Louis, I have know idea, but all I know is that I had the Ott pick for a long time before I recently just traded it...If it is as simple as this St.Louis and Ottawa pick got swapped by mistake, than great make the switches and be done with it. But I also would like to see some proof, because you can't make a trade over at CBS without both teams confirming this..

This works for me, I'm fine with it, I just don't want anybody to think I tried to pull the wool over anybodies eyes. It really dosn't effect me at all, so as long as everybody else is cool with it, just make the changes I guess.

All i know buddy, is that the deal i made with shep was for OTT 2nd

if you're ok with St. Louis 2nd i'll be a nice guy and toss you my 5th this year....as it was a misunderstanding some where's along the lines.

TBH I think CGY needs to be compensated somewhere in this. STL has very little to no chance of being a nice 2nd... OTT has 'some' chance of being a reasonable 2nd... I don't really see a guilty party, and would suggest a pick 90a as compensation, or the trade to be re-worked.

Whatever the CC decides to do, I'm fine with and I hope it works out for all parties. This issue had to be resolved before the draft (obviously) but there would've been some issues with a deal I may pull off in the future that involves that pick and I think the other party would like to know the pick is legitimate...as would I.

I think this further drives home the point of documenting the moves you make...not just relying on what the league does. We need to keep a record of all moves made for easy reference. I'll use my forum as an example...keep them all in one thread and keep them in chronological order and have the link the trade thread or the post in the waivers threads of said move. It's a little extra work but I couldn't put my research together for this without having my moves cataloged.

Also, if this was a case of confusion due to the franchise identity swapping...that needs to stop. When it comes down to it we're still 30 individual teams...it shouldn't matter what name and logo we have. Stick with what you have so we don't have this happen again. The identities matter when it comes to divisional and conference affiliation but to shift teams around for competitive balance is silly because teams will improve or regress each year.
