Ovechkin's becoming a Class Act

Don't know if everyone saw it but earlier last week Ovechkin had a shot at an empty net during his career worst goal scoring drought and he passed the puck to Backstrom instead.
Today, Orr hits Ov and DJ King ends up fighting Orr to defend his captain. Minutes later OV scores and before he goes to the bench to to give props to all his team mates, he goes over to the penalty box and taps the glass in front of King.
Just saying. This is what champions are made of.

I like Ovechkin too, and I loved the tap to DJ King.
I just wanted to be a dick.

lol my default mode has always been a preference to see Crosby win over Ov. But if Ov brings this character day in and day out, I'd LOVE to see him own anyone who gets in his way.

I've never been big on making assumptions based on minor individual acts like this.

That pass is being over-valued, the pass was the obvious play; the DJ King situation is very real however.
I wouldn't confuse either act with 110% work ethic of the other leaders around the NHL.

Leaders in the NHL have multiple traits in common, generally including (but not limited to):
- Top end players
- Big minute players
- Respect for the game
- Respect for their opponents
- 110% work ethic (not some shifts, not most shifts, every shift, every game)
To join the group of the best leaders in the league, Ovy still has worth ethic issues.

respect for opponents? never during a battle. maybe after. and questioning ovys work ethic is silly to me.

Not respecting them is under-estimating them.
I'm not even questioning his work ethic... everyone has watched tons of him, the guy takes battles, back-checks,coverage, shifts, and even games off...worth ethic is not a sometimes thing.
With the puck, on the attack and at the ends of game the guy is working his bag off... but seriously... you think he works like M.Richards, Toews, Kesler, Crosby, etc?
His shot is better, no doubt... you like him more, fair call... but that doesn't make everything he does perfect... and his worth ethic is not 100%, let alone the 110% (as per the saying).

I agree Kareem, this is why I almost never get involved in these discussions. Opinions are like assholes, right?
