Chara signed a new extension, 45.5 mil over 7 years.
45.5/7 = 6.5 million dollars a year cap hit.
However, under the new "Kovalchuk" rules, the cap hit is 6.9 for the first 6 years then 4.0 in the 7th year.
How is our league going to adapt to this? Follow the NHL by the letter regarding the cap hit, or just break it down to 6.5?
I'm pretty sure the answer will be follow the NHL, and I also think its the right idea (even though it actually hurts me), but wanted confirmation.
