I see that they've officially announced he's having surgery. That's notable for you and obviously notable for Carolina. The Devils are right there to take the division away from them.

You don't want to take zeros for Svech this week but obviously there's no one in the reserves or minors that can replace his production. There's no replacement level player when you lose a star. You just hope your other stars chip in. The luxury of having depth is you don't depend on just one guy.

There are some eye-opening results so far but less than half of the games from this week have been played.

Nobody should be feeling too up or down yet with less than half the games played and all matchups being close.

Vrana is doing well in St. Louis. Then again, he was really good for the Wings in his initial games following the Mantha trade.

Vrana just needs to stay away from the slivovitz.
