Is that really necessary? Making personal comments on a trade post? Keep that crap to yourself.

If moving Barzal ahead of his new contract was the rationale...I think Barzal at $9.125 million at 26 is probably still a more appealing asset to acquire than Wheeler at $8.25 million at 37.

Unless you're banking on us starting salary retention next season, you're going to have a hard time getting someone to bite on Wheeler unless you're taking a big contract back. Or you're hoping this won't be his last contract after next year. But then you're hoping to trade away Wheeler at 38.

Acquiring an aging asset is such a gamble in this league. You don't want to be the one owning the asset when they retire becuase you couldn't trade them for value.

Not like Barzal has proven to be a good BBKL asset at 9.15M so far (odd to see he'll be making half a million more than Larkin)

How long Wheeler is going to play and how good a player Brian will draft at the end of the 1st round will make this trade good or bad for him

I don't doubt Brian will do well with that Toronto pick no matter how late in the round it will be. Wheeler will be the interesting part.

Barzal is a good fantasy piece but he doesn't hit a lot of categories outside of offense. Only went over 20 goals once...definitely more of an assist guy too. Not a high volume shooter either. I wonder if the plan is for him to stay on the wing since Horvat makes more sense as their #1 center.

The likelihood of this trade working out in Brian's favor long term seems unlikely. I can't imagine Wheeler plays much longer. You would have to hit a home run on the pick to make it make sense. I'd say the odds are very low he drafts a player even nearly as good as Barzal. Barzal is definitely overpaid for what he is, but only getting a very late 1st for him seems like a bit of a loss.

I'd rather have a late pick than Wheeler. He may as well have.

Vegas is nowhere near winning a cup. He may get 1 week of go out of him and then retire. Let's not pretend it's the same.
