I accept this

Reasoning: I’m getting a starter as good as Thompson while adding a good young prospect in Denisenko while upgrading a pick. On a side note I’m adding cap hit which atm I’m too close to the cap floor.

Prefer georgiev to Thompson but obviously mik is after that cap hit

Denisenko might become a middle six forward maybe

Can see how the deal works for both teams

Weird you didn't even ever try to get Georgiev (and his good contract) considering you've his backup

Think I'd have wanted a better prospect than Denisenko.

A flash in the pan is kind of harsh. I can understand not believing him last year but he's getting extended play this year and he's putting up similar numbers as before. 2.68 and .914 in 19 games last year and 2.69 and .913 in 35 games this year. I don't think he's the second coming but he's very steady at worst.

Props to Tony on drafting him late in 2020. You pick goalie prospects in this league with the hopes they play, let alone make an impact. Lehner being hurt all year, you get more of a proof of concept with him. He's dirt cheap in terms of salary so he's very valuable as a 1B for any contender in this league.

Nobody has the goaltending depth Mik has...he's going to be parlay that into more depth and assets in other places. This is a win-win deal for both teams.

Not sure I'd call it a win win.

I'm talking from the standpoint of not knowing what the Golden Knights will be doing with their goaltending next year when Lehner is healthy. If Thompson continues to post his same numbers and it's his crease going forward, this is a great deal for Mik. It's not like having one of the two guys in Colorado's crease is a bad thing. Maybe Thompson-Lehner share the crease so that's still a fair number of games you can get from Thompson.

Frank and Mik both have goalie depth...Mik has quality goalie depth. I don't know if a guy like Georgiev makes sense on a rebuilding team like Frank but he'll have time to sort that out. If you want to be bad, carrying a Blackhawk goalie is a good idea.

Georgiev is almost as young as Thompson...

It’s not like I’ll be able to play Georgiev with 10 gp remaining before I reach 70gp. So I’ll play only Kaapo Kahkonen for the rest of the way. I own both Mrazek & Kahko.

Georgiev is a #1 goalie (on the defending champs) making $3.4 million over the next 3 seasons and is putting up the best numbers of his career right now...and he's only 27 and he's been a backup until now so there's a lot of tread on the tires. I fail to see how Georgiev can't be just as good of an investment as Thompson going forward. Unless you can secure one of the goalies on the Vezina...Georgiev is a guy I'd be comfortable with going forward.

Honestly, salary aside...who in this league would rather have Thompson over Georgiev? At worst, they're equals. Georgiev in Colorado is putting up the same numbers as Thompson has been putting up since getting playing time with the Golden Knights.

From Mik's point of view, he could've easily moved Georgiev for futures alone since he's organizationally loaded in goal. Frank is a rebuilding team has a couple of other NHL starters...he arguably could've done the same for Thompson. When you're a bad team, having a good goalie now...it seems count-productive unless you've got a phenom that you can hold onto for the next decade and never have to worry about that spot on your roster.

To me, in terms of the bottom tier teams in our league...Paul has the best goaltending situation with Sorokin but he's the same age as Georgiev. The ideal situation is having THAT goalie under 30 and if they're signed for cheap-ish, that's a bonus.

Outside of Price, Bobrovsky and Vasilevskiy...no other goalies have an AAV higher than $6.4 million. Goaltending really won't break your salary cap no matter who you're invested in. Current contracts...66 forwards and 33 defensemen carry an AAV of at least $6.4 million.
