With Marchand back and this trade processed I have a full lineup, no one on my bench and $0 cap space. Don't think that's ever happened before.

While I'm sure he'd love to keep those picks...Chicago is way behind the rest of the league with skater GP. Smart to acquire a couple guys around Week 4 instead of waiting until Week 14 when you're so far behind that any move is futile.

Sturm and Parise are good pick-ups for Booboo as the youngsters start rounding into form and into the lineup. A couple more years and he`ll be the one off loading these spare parts for mid picks!

My salaries add up to exactly $82,500,000, pretty proud of that.

That's a fair take.
I think building teams tend to be more concerned about the players they don't have than the players they do have. You need to carry a (close to) full roster if you have designs on being a lottery team. You can always make back some of the value you give up to acquire active players on the back end. That's kind of my hope with my team too. You might not get dollar for dollar on the return but you're buying insurance they you can keep your spot in the lottery order.

Given bruyns only had a few hours to trade sturm or be forced to waive a player I think a. 33-35 pick seems fairly high. Especially given sturm hasn't been much before this year.
Bruyns always seems to get done what others can't. him being 5x champ makes sense.
Also I'm gonna go capfriendly bruyns entire team to make sure he isn't over by a few bucks

Sturm was good last year too, just isn't a flashy name. Considering prices on Stepan and Parise I think I was being generous for a much younger player on a 3 year contract. I would have flipped him for Svechnikov if I didn't get a decent pick.

I disagree, 32nd in hits, 52nd in SHTOI for Cs last year. Avs traded for him and SJ paid him 2M a year so I think he is valued in the NHL. In our league where we can dress 5Cs they are more in demand I think a 27 year old periph C at 2M has value. I targeted him when I made the trade with SEA for that reason and it's why I have players like Dowd and Acciari, they just make less so Sturm was the odd man out.
