It's funny how this deal comes together. Probably don't have an interest in Marchessault initially if not for Luke taking Lorenz who was my target at 54. Schaefer wasn't a bad second option but I didn't realize he was the guy Matt wanted in this spot so this deal just came together from there. Marchessault gives me some roster flexibility and I already have made 3 picks that I'm excited about. I need to worry about my active roster...can't just have only prospects.

Good pickup for Scott for sure, but Matt had to do it due to the cap. Makes sense.

Now if we can work out how to make retention works, flipping assets like this becomes even more likely every year... speeds up rebuilds and intrigues the contenders a great deal more.

I offered it to everyone and have had marchessault on a block all off-season with 0 offers. Cut 9M and added 1st and 2 2nds hopefully that will be enough cap space.

Also it was 16 + Marchessault/Hyman and Hyman is better.

Still a bad offer for 2nd overall. As a CC member you should be trying to get the teams out of the gutter and instead of pushing your own 1st place agenda by picking on the GMs who most often make horrible trades.

Did you see the trade I just made? I don’t have a reputation for taking advantage of GMs lower in the standings. Hyman and 16 isn’t terrible, probably got worse offers. It was also just a throw out there offer to build on if there was interest, Paul and I talk a bunch and it wasn’t being pushed on him.

Also Paul was the beneficiary of the marchessault trade where I gave him a bunch of premium assets to go all in that year.

That trade makes more sense. You had to cut cap. Hyman + 16 for Cooley is a bad offer for a team like Kimmer and should not have even been made.

I think we tend to take too much offense to a "bad offer". All you have to do is say no and move on.

The CC members should be better than most GMs and avoid those awful offers. Sadly they are often the culprits.
