Just wanted to jump in and say Criscuolo remains waiver exempt (cleared) until he's called up to be in an active weekly lineup. Trading a player that has cleared waivers to another team...that status carries over. Paul, I figure you know that already...just want that mentioned.

I know Lee has advocated the idea of "buying out" or "terminating" a player in-season. I think the idea of sending a player through waivers with the idea of terminating/dropping a player to free up a contract should be considered. NHL contracts really aren't honored in this league in any other way than the AAV and in the binary sense of the player being signed or unsigned.

Bring it up in the CC...I think the idea of putting signed player through waivers with intent to "terminate" the contract should at least be discussed. Not everyone needs to go that route but the option should be there so teams won't feel so obligated to make all their contract drops prior to the season.
