Figure this would be a nice place to post anything related to upcoming pre-pre-season, rookie tournaments. It would be helpful for everyone if people would share their opinions of the matches they saw, as well as perhaps shared time-tables, links and rosters ?

Awful start the rookie tourney. Pens prospect Alex Grant wheeled off the ice on a stretcher. Hit from behind by Sens David Dziurzynski.
Good thing we have Liambis on the ice...

Irwin wasn't really invisible he just missed the net every single shot he took.. I seen him a lot out there but ya, he did not have a good game at all

I don't think Sondre Olden was anywhere near as good as people have been saying he was, he showed his potential, and had a few nice plays, but he was far from dominant, or even conistent from shift to shift. Conversely, I don't think Kadri was as bad as everyone is making it out to be, in fact I thought he was rather dominating at times, specifically the first and latter half of the third period.

im not sure anyone is saying olden was 'dominant'. i wouldn't say anybody in the entire game was 'dominant'. he was just a pleasant surprise. smooth skating for a big kid and showed a lot of poise and patience with the puck.
kadri played awesome in the first. invisible in the second, and then appeared frustrated to not be on the scoresheet in the third and tried to do it all himself.
we need to see the 1st period kadri for more consistently and less of the 3rd period kadri.

He's a career AHLer
but only because of his skating....he's pretty brutal.

Agreed. Also, I feel he had the chances he did because he was playing with Mueller who I'll say was the best player on the ice. Him or Gysbers!

On a serious note, Chris, Bryan, Noah and myself just began our road-trip to watch the Canucks vs Edmonton & San Jose vs Anaheim rookie games in Penticton. But there has been a set-back. I closed the door to my apartment without any keys.
The door to my apartment auto locks, so the four of us are locked out with no keys of any kind, on a Sunday @ 9am. Finally found a locksmith that is open, and its $189+tax, he'll be here in 20min Fuck Me. Thankfully I planned a couple of 'free' hours into the trip, so assuming we get there without any other notable delays it'll be something to laugh about.
Now, regarding the game:
- Each period has its own very distinct feeling to it
- Neither team resembled a team or anything even somewhat organized
In the first I thought D'Amigo was flying out there, and Kadri's skill was clearly evident. Beach and Morin were obviously two played I was watching out for, Kyle was looking for a hit, but was unable to find anything worth noting early on. I noticed the hawk's forwards leaving their zone way to early, limiting the options for their defenders. This is where I saw Lalonde do several impressive plays, mostly caused by his skating, GIlbert was also impressing with his worth ethic and speed. Olden really looked good, McKegg made a beauty speed change + deke on the 2v1.
As the game progressed the leafs speed advantage seemed less pronounced, but their physical play picked up. The Kyle Beach goal was on the weak side, a little too far out...The Morin goal was a lack of proper angling, there should be no net available from that angle, with that said a defender or forward should have had a stick on that puck. Despite two less-then stellar goals let in by Jussi, I actually liked what I saw, big (though not as big as I expected), fast, and extremely well aware of how the play is developing.
Gsypers was quite definitely the best leaf, with both Olden and Mueller earning note. Olden (last night, against that level of competition) reminds me of Hossa, he's hard to get the puck from, and he wins battles that he shouldn't even be in! Meanwhile Mueller is busy doing his Kulemin impersonation-> awesome worth ethic, smart puck location, finishes his checks hard (harder then Kules), and showed flashes of having some hands. Although Lalonde had a bad give-away, iMO his other plays more then made out, and during the 2nd or 3rd he was their player that stood out the most to me. Beach disappointed in the lack of opportunities he created, well Morin failed to really touch the puck very much (though he was dangerous with it, almost every time).

Kadri sitting today. Hip Flexor injury, not considered serious.

First -> that drive is not a short one, especially to do twice in one day, including a way back that had insane fog, some snow, lots of slush, and non-stop rain with a car full of drunk retards. Noah damn near got us killed a few times by randomly choking the driver (me) with my seat belt, and was frigging annoying as he'd constantly press his knees into the seat-back (LOL).
However the hockey was worth it; I'll start with the second game -> SJS vs ANA
BIG MOTHA FAKKERS, both teams simply full of 6'3"+++ players. SJS was a little bigger, and a little more developed and it showed as Anaheim was short handed for roughly half of the game (or so its seemed). The Sharks Captain, Nick Petrecki, was a standout in all regards -> Bigger, harder hitting, exceptional positioning, and had one hell of a shot. Benn Ferriero seemed to be the lone shark under 6'3", yet he more then made up for that with work ethic and skill (great game in basically all regards), he also showed an impressive wrister, nicking the upper corner of the post from a very tough angle at speed.
Nick Bonino did not stand out as much as expected, however his game was sound in all regards, and he earned his goal (only ducks goal). Fowler made the game look easy, including some beautiful passes and effortless skating -> Bryan I think was drunk and trying to get on my nerves but saying he had a junk game, when he calmed down and watched him very specifically in the 3rd Cam had a flawless period right until he fanned on a pass with 16 seconds left (no one cared). Fowler's passes are outright elite, flat on the tape, leading the player just slightly. Ramsay was solid from the ducks back end, constantly willing to stand up for his teammates. Now this won't be fun for Kareem or Topher, but Holland really didn't look like anything special (although he did snap and defend his teammate late in the game) and in this group he lacked size as well as strength (got pushed off the puck more then once). Etem was even worse... where was the speed ? He went from invisible in the first to bad in the 2nd, however in the third he did some nice work behind the net, leading to a few chances, but once again, he's smaller then one would expect, and nothing about him aside form his free hand (always out parallel to the ground) really stood out.
Timo Pielmeier was solid on the shots he could see, however small size + net presence is a reality goalies have to play through, and he did a poor job of that.
Taylor Doherty (77 for the sharks I believe), was IMO the most impressive player in the game, GIGANTIC, comfortable with the puck, hard hitting and constantly seemed to be making the right play.
edm/van to come.
