Storm chasing is smart, not like they are the most powerful destructive forces on our planet...

Exactly, which is what the allure is. I have been in some amazing storms and there is nothing like being on or near the coast when a hurricane is near or coming. I am amazed at it and love it. I missed Hurricane Juan by 2 days.

I've been way way to close to a 'cane'.

I think it was 96 in lake Huron... turns out I don't really get sea-sick, but it was a brutal experience. In back to back fishing/boating trips... one year (96 I think) was a hurricane, the next (97) a brutal series of tornados that hit lake huron and multiply x10.

Yea, See a Tornado to me is quite scary and i dont wish that upon anyone. Very amazing to see but the intensity is just awe inspiring. I know a Hurricane is too but it is quite rare to have a Cat 3 or greater Hurricane make landfall. Not more than a handful since recording has been started. But even still a Cat 1 storm can be very powerful...

Wow, that is unbelievably beautiful in that powerful sorta way.

I like snow-storms and rain-showers myself, precipitation is an awesome cycle.

Too far away right now, but it could be direct hit on Yarmouth or Liverpool OR it could hit southern Maine and go into interior NB or it could go south and it Sable Island. Must keep your eyes on this one. Its category 4 atm and expected to strengthen more to possibly a cat 5. Katrina was a cat 5 storm for reference. What makes this more concerning is the ocean temps are higher than normal in our area thus allowing a hurricane to hold its strength this far north. Could be quite crazy...

I am actually a weather geek. Besides hockey i'd have to admit that it would be my passion. Guess its why i kinda got into cartography in a way. Wasn't going to school for 8 years to become a weatherman!

This storm is huge and is still in a direct path for us here in the maritimes. This could be a major event. Get ready Guptill. I will be traveling to where it makes landfall. The storm is bigger than the state of Texas. Even if it hit the Bay of Fundy, hurricane force winds extend 160 kms outward from center. That would cover all of NS and up to Nackawic approx in NB. That is insane..

Ya, everyone here is already to shutdown for the weekend.....emergency watch is on....the rinks are ready for people to stay in during the storm....

I have a feeling Nova Scotia Power is going to have a busy weekend, i would imagine it will be knocked out almost province wide.

Shifted west again, more of a NB hit at present. Most likely will change again, though. Almost a guarantee that Yarmouth Area will get Hurricane conditions atm.
