Damn goalie GP. I'm still without Mike Smith and I'm getting my first game out of Raanta tonight in almost a full month. Since I own my pick...I can't miss on GP.

Domingue has been getting the bulk of the starts but you wonder what they decide to do when Smith comes back. Knowing my luck, they'll waive Lindback because he's been rotten. I'm not paying Matthew's going rate for a starter so I settled on Lindback because he's at least an Arizona goalie.
Lindback gets in probably 1 game a week. I need 15 more games before the end of the season. Between him and Raanta and eventually Smith...I hope I've got enough. It's been another nightmare goalie situation this year with Smith going down. There's still about two weeks before the deadline...we'll see what happens.
It's far easier to grab a defenseman or a winger in a trade if you have an injury but a goalie injury...yeesh. If anyone owns a #1 goalie...hold onto them because you don't want to deal with what I've dealt with the past few years. This is the part of a league like this that sucks.

Honestly, I'd have inquired about getting a high quality backup (young guy with upside) or even quality starter. You'd need to pay more, but it's more secure long term, and makes your team better. Goalies are important, but dumping decent assets for low quality pieces with likely low upside likely won't work out long term.

Until your young high quality guy busts as well and you're left with nothing....

No one is going to trade a stable goalie situation to a team with no goalies they can offer. That's why I have to trade you a lottery pick for a veteran starter and I've had to trade two 3rd line wingers for rarely used backups.
When I'm trying to rebuild, I can't nuke my farm system every time I need a goalie. I'm not going to trade you Sam Bennett or this year's 1st for Louis Domingue. It's a perpetual losing situation. I draft a piece I want to rebuild around and then I have to give them up because I don't have a goalie. It sucks.
The real pisser about the trades I've made...I look at Scrivens right now, he's basically the new starter in Montreal with Price done for the year. He was basically a throw-in in the Mike Smith deal. Another rake in the face for me. I'm losing patience with this whole process.

I'm getting to the point where I'd rather just help run the drafts and keep the league organized...at least that's work that has been rewarding. Dealing with this goalie crap isn't any fun. I'd almost rather let someone else deal with it.

It's a lot of luck to get a goalie who performs well and actually stays in the league, I was in the same boat as Scott a few years ago when Nabakov was on his last leg and I had nothing else really to rely on.

If I can get to 41 games somehow, I'll relax but it's going to another summer of figuring out what I need to do with my goaltending.
The nightmare scenario is playing out...Smith goes out for a couple months and he's on the verge of being Wally Pipp'd by Domingue. Tippett was not happy with his goaltending just before Smith got hurt. He's been riding Domingue to keep Arizona in the playoff hunt. I bet Smith gets a shot to play when he's back but if Domingue is playing well...why would Tippett not stick with the hot hand? He's not worried about playing the veteran that's got the healthy cap hit if he's not going to win him games. He wants to make the playoffs and he's trying to save his job.

Dominique isn't staying in the NHL. He's not a starter

I completely disagree Thom, think Smith and Dominuge are 1A and 1B next year and Lindback is gone.

oh I think Lindback is a brutalll goalie. Just dont' think Dominique lasts in the league. I'm still surprised that the orginal DET 1st didn't get the whole system at the time
