Hartnell has been a guy several teams wanted but only if I was to sell down and take lesser pieces (picks and prospects). I've been unsuccessful in packaging him for a better player so I've gone this route. I really like Grossman as a guy to fill out my defense. I'm sitting at only 5 NHL defensemen signed with Aaron Ward still unsigned/undecided on his future. Ward would be a nice #7 if he does ultimately sign. Cleary is an okay replacement on the wing but it's a drop off from Hartnell for sure. MacMillan was a decent little throw-in.

You never asked me once about Hartnell, not once and I've asked you on several occasions what the price on him is.

Wow.

Some forget that they need to clear it with the all holy, the one who must not be named, the best ever, etc... hopefully you can find it within yourself to forgive him :P

i think its more of an issue of poor judgment to not shop a player around and taking the 1st offer. if it is a clear win thats one thing. but imo shoalzie lost a quality piece for quantity thats not that great/a return that could have been beaten easily if he shopped hartnell around.

Shiv nailed it right on! Quality>quantity. I wasn't referring to him asking me its that Shoalzie said he had a tough time shopping him when he knows I liked Hartnell.

Nick, I'm happy you think of me that way.. you're alright too buddy ;)

i really don't see anything wrong with that deal.

Cleary can do everything Hartnell can do and Grossman is a solid Dman.

once again we are blinded by the name on the back of the Jersey.
