Yup solid value. Esp when the tier of Phaneuf, Subban, Suter, Weber, Doughty should all be more expensive than that in a year.

And on kessel, I was reading something on sportsnet that said (pure speculation) that he'd get 8+ as a ufa on the open market.

7 years is the limit for signing another team's free agent...Kessel could get 8 years if he stays with the Leafs.

i agree, get kessel done first, dion said he'd negotiate during the season.
IMO kessel wants out anyways, but who knows. Thank goodness Nonis talked burke into the Schenn/JVR deal, just incase we lose kessel he's our next best scorer IMO

if there is any question that he wants out and you cant get a deal done right now...id shop him before the season gets too far underway
