I don't like it, but I'd bet a boat load of money that Iginla, Boyle and Richards make TC.

shooker wroteCOLONA guy I think got robbed of an invite is Dan Girardi of the NYR. Guy has been nothing short of amazing back there. I think he is right around Hamhuis and Phaneuf as the 8-9-10 guys on the list, but he deserves to be in the discussion imo.
Neither Girardi nor Hamhuis deserve to be in the same sentence as Dion Phaneuf. Phaneuf played more minutes then both and against harder competition, was the anchor on the second best PK, and out-produced both offensively. These are not opinions, they are facts.

Richards yes. The other two I don't know.

I dislike Richards as I feel he is highly over rated (coming from his bbkl owner) but he is a big game player who would bite off Ovy's leg to win for Canada. For that reason I wont hate that selection.

So he is out of their league in bbkl. Not real life I am sorry to say it.

Mike Richards isn't a high end player anymore, I'd be more upset with his selection that Boyle or Iginla. Richards has a high compete level, but so do most of the Canadians that were invited, that is not enough of a reason to warrant his selection, IMO.

Your opinion on this subject means nothing to me because it runs counter to all of the evidence that we have at our disposal. If a player looks good, is trusted by his coach, earns the respect and captaincy of his team, produces at en elite rate, and is rated as an elite player by advanced statistical measures then chances are he is an elite player...

Seabrook over Subban? Seabrook was so bad last year that Hjalmarsson passed him as the #2 on the Hawks, whereas Subban is coming off a career year as one of the top offensive D in the NHL.

No way Seabrook doesn't make the team IMO. Him and Keith are a lock to be a pair. Subban could make it though in place of a Letang for example.

The Kunitz thing, everyone will call me crazy but aside from Crosby's Golden Goal in 2010, he wasn't all that great in the Olympics. Linemates were constantly swapped in and out. Kunitz may not be a lock but he has a good chance on that fact alone -> investing a roster spot to ensure Crosby is playing his best.

St. Louis is the only player I really struggled with. Almost feel bad for him because he will likely get left out again.

I dunno Chuck, Ovy, Kovy, Lecavalier, Kesler, Iginla are pretty solid players I'd say too....

That poll is a joke.

If you look at all advanced metrics on Phaneuf, he is a terrific d-man. Sure he makes mistakes but as do all d-men playing similar roles.

Don't even think you're being a Habs fan here. Many fan bases seem to think Phaneuf is bad including part of the Leaf fan base, which is absolutely ridiculous.

I wish more fans looked at advanced stats.

List of United States invitees:

http://olympics.usahockey.com/news_arti ... ferrer_id=

My guess for the US roster is this:

Zach Parise - Ryan Kesler - Patrick Kane
Bobby Ryan - David Backes - Phil Kessel
Dustin Byfuglien - Joe Pavelski - Dustin Brown
Ryan Callahan - Derek Stepan - Blake Wheeler

Ryan Suter - Keith Yandle
Paul Martin - John Carlson
Kevin Shattenkirk - Ryan McDonagh

Jonathan Quick
Craig Anderson

Taxi Squad: Ryan Miller, Paul Stastny, and Zach Bogosian

The poll makes no sense, ask most people about Phaneuf and they will tell you he flat out sucks, how can someone be overrated if everyone thinks they suck? The same thing goes for Scott Gomez.

If he plays the way he did last season he won't even be a consideration.
