Looking at the comments, I love how it's become FACT that Letang is only putting up points because of Malkin and Sid. He was piling them on when both of em were injured.

If I were a player with one more year on my deal there's no way I sign an extension this summer. Next year's the squeeze, salaries will be temporarily down for one year. Why not wait until the wild west opens up again next July 1?

I understand he's pretty friggin awesome, but some of the (good) top paid dman are:

Chara: 6.9
Doughty: 7
Keith: 5.5
The Buff: 5.5
OEL: 5.5
Karlsson: 6.5


all of those guys are in a similar class to Letang (well except chara, he's just a monster) and none of them make more than 7 mil per season.

I think 7's a solid number for Letang. In general if I'm a UFA in 2014 I'm waiting it out and seeing what I can get on the open market.

Two of the three Norris noms including the winner weren't the best dman on their teams... imo anyways. cough markov.

As I said before, I'd rather they don't. Just because the cost is going to be astronomically high most likely.
