Nonis was on the FAN590 and explained in detail this situation.

He said they will wait until the end of the summer to see if they can use the buyouts to benefit the team. If they dont use them i can see them buying out Komi then.

They also suggested they may buy out komi and not use the compliance buy out,,and just take the 1.1mil in cap hit.

Nonis said they will wait until the draft, the compliance buy-out window expires well before the end of the summer.

A team cannot use their compliance buy-outs after the draft. I think you are confused because you misunderstood Nonis saying that the Leafs will wait until the draft with the Leafs waiting until the end of the summer.

so basically Nonis has 4 days to use it as a trade chip.

I've heard 2 different timings.

1) Compliance buyouts end right before the draft.
2) Compliance buyouts end right before free agency.

TSN just said they open (right now) and end July 4th at 5pm.

When can UFAs be signed this year? July 5th?

FYI, Rob Rossi is pure crap.

Not saying Letang to Leafs can't happen, just that Rossi speaking about it means basically nothing per se.

I'm somewhat perplexed by Leafs fans not wanting him (he'd be our best player IMO), but even more perplexed by his desire to come to Toronto. Larry Murphy? Bryan McCabe? Hell, Phaneuf? Offensive d-men get no respect from this fan base. He could have 20 points after 18 games with us but if he's turning the puck over every now and then we'll crucify the guy.

I'd be more weary if it was Toronto media reporting it, because everybody wants to come to Toronto according to Toronto media.
