I don't think its a pride thing at all.

Twice the money to play in his home town. To me that just makes sense.

If they draft MacKinnon, no way does Stastny come back. I know Duchene can play on the wing but obviously O'Reilly isn't going plan 3rd line making the scratch he's getting. Just as far as needs are concerned, they seemed like a natural spot for Jones.

i think there is benefits to both...if he turns out to be a true #1 top 10 goalie (like everyone believes) 3.5 is a steal for 5 years...however, if he's inconsistant than it could be a bad deal.

I agree with this logic entirely. Drafting a D-man #1 overall or even #2 is almost always a long long road and not always fruitful.
