I'm basically ready when you are...I think we know who you're taking based on other posts. I think I've got my decision narrowed down. Any harm in starting early?

Shut up, Mik.

Well, if we're going with a short clock...starting tomorrow should get us done in time. My only concern would be to get this done in a reasonable amount of time but with just one round, we oughta be fine.

thanks for deleting my new thread Lee..
since this old one is left running, you should correct the specifics in the 1st post, while checking if the ones Scott managed to copy in the selection thread are indeed correct.
As for the start of the waiver draft, if it's scheduled for tomorrow at noon, why should Mike make his pick now?
Any good (-> useful) reason?
i see none.
Of course no one can prevent Mike from announcing which his pick will be, but it shouldn't become official until after the announced start.
Generally speaking, it's a matter of keeping things consistent with what's been decided.
In this year case, there are more reasons than ever to not mess with that:
some GMs probably don't even know there is a Waiver Draft about to start;
we also have plenty of stuff to be decided in the CC, some of it somehow related with it.
In any case, GMs might want to use the time left to prepare/research, or more importantly might want to trade for picks, an early start might screw their plan and that's true for any draft in any year.

And no one is forcing anyone to pick. We've said time and time again that it would be an unofficial start and that the clock doesn't start until the clock hits noon tomorrow.

yet.. suppose the first 10 picks go down before the draft starts (nothing would prevent it), the GM with the 11th pick would find himself forced to make his pick within 8hrs from the start of the draft instead of much later; at the same time, someone who wanted to trade for a top ten pick won't be able to do it cause when he comes online for the scheduled draft he finds out the first 10 picks have already gone by...
all kind of potential BS there is zero need for.

It's not like they've been given an extra 4 months to do those things.

lol, i missfired! (sorry lee, but i know your thick skin doesn't care)
then i'll blame you Scott!
(sorry if i was not clear enough via PM)
i wrote in the first post the reasons i started the new thread, so with the old one not locked nor removed, you could at least merge them and/or correct Lee's info in the thread starter, as we have conflicting terms in 2 different valid threads now.
If i'm not mistaken, limit for Euros is 1992 and not 1991 this year.

..but the other side of that, is they've been given very short notice as it is, once the lockout was over..
and the reality is, understandably many stopped caring during the lockout...

Some people haven't begun to start caring again either.

Cry me a river. If someone is going to stop caring let us know, we'll move on and find a replacement. Hockey is back, turn that frown upside down.
