Your guy Makar has a really good shot at it. Hirose's been one of the most consistent players all season and drove that top line for MSU although they weren't a very good team. Fox and Duszak have good claims for it. I think a defenseman will likely win it.

Tournament field is announced. Smart money suggests one of the Minnesota teams to win it all but these tournaments never go as you expect.

What a time in college hockey when independent Arizona State is in the tournament but not Boston University, Boston College, Michigan, North Dakota, Wisconsin or Minnesota.

Yeah, good defense duel in that first round with Makar vs. Fox. That's one of the better matchups in the opening round.

The BU departures have begun. Oettinger signed with Dallas and it sounds like Farabee is turning pro as well.

Yup, saw that. There was a lot of talk that he'd go the Justin Schultz/Jimmy Vesey route but he chooses to stick with the Predators.

A very wise move. You don't leave an organization that is king at moulding young d-men. You learn and then if you have to - you move on. They'll sooner trade Subban though I imagine.

First big upset of the tournament...American International downs St. Cloud State 2-1. I'd imagine that's the last college game for Ryan Poehling. I didn't realize he has two brothers on the roster with him.

Get to know AIC...one of the goal scorers today, Joel Kocur...cousin of Joey Kocur, Wendel Clark and Barry Melrose. (Thank you EliteProspects). American International is in Springfield, Massachusetts. Notable alumni include former UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun and former NBA player Mario Elie.

Notre Dame vs. UMass for a spot in the Frozen Four. Would Avs fans actually root for UMass to bow out just to get Makar into their lineup for the home stretch?

Nothing too crazy happened on Saturday. The two higher seeds Denver and UMass made it through to the Frozen Four.

Northeastern getting blown out was a bit of a surprise...bad way to end Cayden Primeau's college career. Minnesota State blew a 3-0 lead and is out. Minnesota-Duluth saves face for the State of Hockey in beating Bowling Green in overtime. Arizona State's impressive season came to an end.

Canadiens finally signed Poehling. Help save their season, kid...no pressure or anything. They don't play again until Tuesday so that gives him a couple days to get ready.

Well, that's 3 of my college guys turning pro so far. Fabbro, Oettinger, and Primeau.

Makar, Schuldt and Fox are the three finalists for the Hobey Baker...all defensemen.

At this stage, I'd be stunned if it's not Makar.

Frozen Four starts tonight...Minnesota-Duluth vs. Providence at 5 and Denver vs. UMass at 8:30.

Denver and UMass reached the Frozen Four on backs of two shutout wins. Something has give tonight. Providence is the highest scoring team of the tournament so far...10 goals in their two games.

Sorry Avs fans, you'll have to wait until after Saturday to bring Makar into the fold. UMass beat Denver in overtime and Minnesota-Duluth topped Providence in the early game.
