Pretty safe bet that will be his last deal in the NHL...hopefully some of the kids in the system are ready to take the reigns by then. Hank is no spring chicken either.

Good quote of the day:
Datsyuk wroteCOLON"In Russia, we had tough times. Only one puck," he said. "I always wanted the puck, so I learn how to keep it and make space and get puck when other guy has it."

Jonathan Bernier is one highly coveted backup goaltender.

The 24-year-old Los Angeles King is the hottest item on the trade market right now.

The Bernier sweepstakes is likely down to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers, according to a Tuesday report from Sportsnet.

Meanwhile, Newsday says the New York Islanders are in the mix as well, with the Kings asking for prospects and/or young players in return for Bernier.

Last week, about 10 teams were believed to be interested in Bernier’s services, according to ESPN, with a trade expected to go down before or at June 30’s draft.

Bernier, who was drafted 11th overall in 2006, played 15 games in 2012-13, finishing with a 9-3-1 record and 1.87 goals-against average. He is set to become a restricted free agent July 5.

Despite the excellent numbers, world-class goalie Jonathan Quick stands in Bernier's way in L.A. The most games he has played in one NHL season is 25 in 2010-11.
CBS as well as a few other sites suggest that NYI is offering Nino + up to the LAK. This was in the Toronto Sun, interesting for sure.

I would ask your source but you are more pure hearted than Gandhi, meaning it has to be true.

I actually see the Islanders as the deal that makes most sense. Making sense means nothing though and who knows where he will end up, just seems like NYI would be the best fit.

Disagree. Nino hasn't proven anything at the NHL level. Bernier has proven he can play, just needs to prove he can be the guy. Seems legit both ways to me. Although Steve clearly did not hear this lol.

If the Colorado Avalanche keep the first overall pick in the NHL Draft, they are leaning towards taking a forward over defenceman Seth Jones. According to a report in the Denver Post, Avalanche executive vice-president Joe Sakic said the team will pass on Jones with the first-overall pick

I expect Frattin to be a King by the draft

seems like they have a lot of interest.

I was told they loved watching frattin play at N. Dakota when they were originally scouting Forbort.

found this breakdown of top dman at the draft:
Not surprising at all for Sakic to make that announcement. If you look back at the last 10-15 drafts and look at the top forward vs the top dman I think it is easy to come to a census of WHO they should draft.

2000: Heatley 1st, Klesa 4th
2001: Kovy 1st, Komisarek 7th
2002: Rick Nash 1st, Bouwmeester 3rd
2003: E Staal 2nd, R Suter 7th
2004: Ovechkin 1st, Barker 3rd
2005: Crosby 1st, Jack Johnson 3rd
2006: Erik Johnson 1st, Jordan Staal 2nd, Toews 3rd, 4th Niklas Backstrom
2007: Patrick Kane, 1st Thomas Hickey 4th
2008: Steven Stamkos 1st, Drew Doughty 2nd
2009: John Tavares 1st, Victor Hedman 2nd
2010: Taylor Hall 1st, Erik Gudbrandson 3rd
