$5 million is basically the price for a quality veteran starter...it seems about right for a goalie his age.

I think its too much for howard, he's woth no more than 3.5, maybe even 4, but that's it.

I would tend to agree as I put him on the level of Hiller (4.5) Niemi (3.8) Crawford (2.67) and Pavelec (3.9) not that of the 5+ mill goalies. I don't think it is bad deal per say, just more than I would want if I was a wing fan.

(I haven't looked up the stats for BBKL worth, I am talking real life here lol)

i like it a lot for the wings actually, they are in the Leafs conference/division next year, he eats up a lot of cap for an OK goalie.

No, not 7 but i could see 6. No way AK resigns with Boston either. He wants his own gig.

$6+ million seems to be the price for the elite of the elite...Lundqvist, Price, Miller, Ward, et al. Rask could probably ask for $6+ million.

I made the point on HF, they don't have a great defense in front him anymore so it's not like they can go on the cheap with goaltending anymore. They used to get away with having just a few million tied up in their two goalies. Osgood didn't make much in his last few years in the league. You're paying for his prime years with this deal. $5.3 million might be a decent price by the time you're a couple years into the deal. Howard is a solid regular season goalie but I think he needs to emerge as a playoff goalie in the next year or two to justify this deal.
