Bozak better at 4M than Weiss at 5M... really I don't know how anyone could ever make that argument. Imo take Weiss out of Florida and he would be regarded as one of the best two way centers in the game. That is if he isn't already, I think the hockey world values him. Have to take off the blue blinders here Phion, this thread is starting to sound like HF boards.

As for Lou, I think Grabovski is the guy the leafs would deal. He is clearly not a Carlysle guy and IMO is the guy they would rather lose, especially with that contract. Lou makes you guys capable of a Cinderella run or at worst, a couple pieces off a legitimate contender. I don't think the leafs have a talent pool like Chicago, Detroit or San Jose where they can put who ever in net and win. Landing a guy like Lou would be a massive deal going forward for you guys. I also think it is a much better move then landing someone like Kipper who will retire at the end of the year and leave you in the same position as before or dealing for Smith who I do not have faith in outside the PHX style of play.

Exactly.

I don't see any scenario whereby the Leafs trade Grabovski for Luongo, if it's anyone it will be Bozak. The Leafs gave Grabovski a 5.5M contract less than a year ago, that should tell you all you need to know about their opinion and commitment to him. I also don't think that Carlyle's use of Grabovski demonstrates that he isn't a Carlyle type player, quite the opposite in fact, Carlyle doesn't trust just anyone as his shutdown center.

He's not one of the best defensive centres in the league... Lol. Maybe on his team.

Bozak is so underrated, he has top notch playmaking ability. He'd be perfect for a 3rd line role though.

Bozak @ 4 mil > Weiss @ 5+ (or whatever he would want). I haven't hear any rumors of Bozie wanting 4 mil.
I don't see how Weiss is an upgrade over Grabovski or Bozak tbh

As for the "winning the cup" statement, it was made in regards to acquiring Luongo. Luongo is decent and all, but acquiring him is an extremely short-sighted move. That's contract is killer, and he's going nowhere but down from here. Who wants a 40+ year old backup making 5+ mil a year?
Will Luongo make us better for the next couple seasons? Maybe. But after that we are definitely suffering more than we are benefitting. Run with Reimer and Scrivens, both who have been better statistically than Luongo. I wouldn't mind a Khabibulin-type goalie as a mentor backup though.
If you don't think Weiss is an excellent two way center you clearly haven't watched him play enough to form an opinion on him.

Fuck luongo. Hopefully the nucks get stuck with him and his contract. Will be very upset if I see someone bailed them out.

Weiss is a product of florida and when he leaves he'll be one of the best 2 way C's in the league. See patrice bergeron.

Bozak is a product of toronto and when he leaves he's gonna suck when he's playing with 3rd like talent, not top line talent. I'm gonna blow my laughing box when bozak gets 4 - 5mil this summer and he ends up being no better than dom moore.

Or, you know, we could teach Kadri how to win faceoffs and put our best centre on line 1.

I know, I know. That makes too much sense.

Grabovski is getting paid 5.5mil? Screw it, let's turn him into a 3rd line checking centre. Or you know, you could play him as a solid 2-way 2nd line centre and sign a cheaper 3rd line centre (or put McClement there and sign a Line 4 C).

We have 1C and 2C on our team already, they are just playing on the 2nd and 3rd line. I'm not the biggest Grabo fan, but @ 5.5mil and the offence he has shown he can produce, put him on Line 2 with more offensive responsibilities and he'll get back to his 50+ point ways and a solid 2way centre.

dom moore is decent, but he's a 3rd line C

and thats what bozie reminds me of....i like bozie and would love to keep him around, but he isnt worth Grabo's contract, heck, even grabo isn't worth that contract.

Off Leafs Topic but, Martin is out 6 weeks, and Crosby left the game after getting hit hard in the mouth by a deflected Orpik's shot.

Making room for Danny D?

You think he will get thrown right in? He was promised a roster spot upon signing.
