"Gardiner's ability to play in the NHL isn't the question, as he is an NHLer, however there just simply isn't a roster spot available for him. He is playing his role in being patient, and he understands the situation fully, as what the Leafs have going right now with their current roster WORKS and are having success, and it is merely a case of not fixing something that's not broken. Decisions have to be made in terms of who to send down and waiver exempt players in the Leafs system is currently limited"
