I didn't agree with that either, but it's not totally farfetched. As of today, there are only three players I would take ahead of ROR from the 2009 draft: Tavares, Duchene, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Pretty sure I'd hang onto Hedman & Kane too. But Evander would be based on need. RoR def the 'best pick' of the 2009 draft. However on a whole it's still too early to tell, if Kassian becomes a 30G 150PIM powerforward that's a rather rare beast. Kulikov is another player who would go much higher.

Lucic will not play tommorow at Winnipeg. Was there and returned to Boston on emergency basis for personal reasons. He has a newborn, hopefully everything is ok.

Kane and ROR was a tough one, I leaned towards ROR because of his position, and two way game. Hedman wasn't a consideration for me at all. Obviously it is too early to say for certain, but that wasn't the context of the comment, it was, "if the draft were held today."

Ye - watching Hedman I think he's become an all-around #1 Dman now - that's likely still top 3 pick.

Victor Hedman isn't even the #1 defenceman on a bad Lightning defense. I agree that he has shown improvements, and the skill set is obviously there, but he is still a ways away from being an all around #1. I wouldn't take him top 3 in any draft since 2000 if I had the choice today.
