Ha.

Hopefully Grabovski is moved. Albatross of a contract.

Drafts are hit or miss. I attribute the players motivation/self progression way moreso to a player success rather than crediting a gms ability to "foresee" a players future success by drafting them... It makes virtually no sense to credit the gm for late round (past 2nd rd) prospects bloom.

Do you honestly think they were expecting datsyuk and zetterberg to be what they are today by sneaking them in 6-7th rds? Probably not. They probably knew they were good players. But to this extent to becoming franchise players? Please get the core point of the story i present. I thought this was one of the most important reading comprehension skills elementary-high school in north american system taught. I notice most north American students suck at point extraction in a given scenario/story. Most medical/literature majors seem to be the only ones competent at it.

By having strong scouting you are more likely to get lucky. Judging character, raw skill sets, and sometimes being able to properly evaluate players from less traditional/competitive jr leagues; all these things make a strong effect on how successful a team will be in the later rounds of the draft. Its more of an odds things than anything, and stronger scouting puts big leverage on a teams odds of doing well in the draft.

Leafs are historically very good at late round draft picks - like the preds, over-stated wings, & thrashers/jets. Those same teams have not been as successful with their early round picks though. Wings notably have brutal 1st round history.

I think it's insane to trade Jake, that was the hidden story in my joking comment.

i think a team's ability to coach and develop their young players and prospects is often overlooked when talking about good drafting and steals

Don't think so, certainly not that much at least.. he is actually a pretty 'Americanized' Euro.

As for the BBKL Preds and their Euros, you're probably going to hear more about them in the future. :)

Several reports say that Colorado defenseman Erik Johnson is out indefinitely with a head injury.

I heard they acquired Gardiner in exchange for RoR + 4th in 2014.

Checking sources.
