He's treated like a definite top pairing d-man but he's going to be a #3/#4 IMO.

you guys are crazy, Hamilton has top pairing written all over him. He has been average thus far in this tourney but he is a stud in the making. It is odd how the leaf fans in here keep insisting Hamilton isn't anything to write home about. I wonder why? :D

It is incredibly difficult to become a #1/#2 and Hamilton is still very young. D-men's careers are 99% of the time not that simple and take years to reach that level. Can he be a #1 in 5 years? It's possible. But I'd say it is more likely that he ends up a #3 than he does a #1.

Oh and screw the Leafs fans card - I've seen Luke Schenn go from a surefire #1/2 to a #3/4 in 5 years. And Leafs fans literally do not give a fuck about the Kessel trade anymore. It is more the media than anything that keeps bringing that up.

I hate the habs even more than the bruins, and Gally has been the 2nd or 3rd best forward in this tournament.

I'm not suggesting Hamilton won't amount to much, i just think he was over-hyped a bit early. Not to sure those Pronger comparisons were correct. The more i watch him play the more he reminds me Kubina. Now some of you may say that Kubina was a top pairing dman (which he certainly was in his prime), but i see Hamilton having his type of impact on the backend kubina did during his earlier days (18-20mins a night, being a #2-#4 dman).

Hamilton will be a durable NHL dman, i just don't see the superstar potential everyone else see's.

oh, Gally will be backes with a more offensive upside.

I'm with most of you guys..haven't been impressed with Murphy, Hamilton, or Reinhart. Rielly, Harrington, and Oullette are by far our best defenceman right now. I've always been a big Strome guy so I'm not surprised with how hes played thus far. Would love to see McKinnon and Drouin play together more and Mckinnon to just play more in general. I haven't seen much of Drouin before this tournament but he's definitely impressed me.

How many times on this forum have I said that I hate steve spott...because its not enough.

Guys head is stuck so far up his own ass that its going to severely affect our chance at gold.

Apparently 1 goal, 2 assists and +4 through 2 periods isnt good enough for rielly to play any more than 10 mins a game but we'll keep double shifting a virtually useless ryan murphy until it comes back to bite us in the ass.

Also appears as though mackinnon is going to need to score a hattrick a game before he sees ice over mcneill.

We will be out coached badly by teams like russia, sweden and finland

Only smart choice he's made is playing Drouin with Strome. Mackinnon is much better than rattie imo and should be on that line. I feel like its pretty obvious who our best players are, but Spott neglects thats and simply uses the lineup that suits him.

It's pretty funny, because all of Canada pretty much thinks this way. There is something wrong with Spott, his logic isn't making any sense. He's going with the weaker goalie, he seems to think Murphy is god, and our worst forward in McNeill is taking ice time away from Mckinnon.

He obviously has favourites, but like Anton said, it's going to cost us gold.

The Russians are a pretty classless bunch. I'm not sure if any of you watched the German vs Russian game. But even with a 7-0 league with minutes left in the game they were still going full blown offense.

Talk about tying to pad your stats.

If he were a member of any other team he would be getting more hype from Leaf fans, I am certain of it.

I'm not certain of it at all,

Like i said above, he's not playing bad he just isn't this superstar all these scouts have him made out to be. The only 2 players on this team i have an issue with is Mark mcneil and ryan murphy. Both of whom are garbage.

And you are basing this on what, a 3-4 game sample size?

I love watching Jones pinch up the ice, and then get back on D before anyone else, he is such a beautiful skater.

Last years WJ's, the Canada vs Russia summit series, and this years WJ's

don't get me wrong, it isn't the biggest sample size, but it's enough to see that i dont believe he's a superstar in the making. That said, i think him being paired with murphy really hurts his game. Murphy is like a crappier version of MAB.

Im on my phone now and cant be bothered to find the link but google sean day prospectreel or something like that. Theres a site that has iso cam footage one of his games a few weeks ago.

Kid is unreal.

I've never seen him play, but I've heard incredible things, apparently he is a strong candidate for early exception into the OHL. If you have time later, I would love to see that video of him skating.

Edit: I found the video

i've seen highlights on this kid ( i believe out of Detroit)

he's unreal, he's the next Ovy + Crosby = Bobby Orr on the backend.
