Ducks loan Devante Smith-Pelly to the Canadian team..huge addition for the team. Doesn't look like the Panthers will loan Gudbranson though.

Brett Connolly being loaned to play as well, HUGE addition.

Weakness coming in seemed to be goaltending, looks that way still too.. Unless we could just use an overager as Don Cherry suggests.

Visentin's a good goalie..plus having a previous year in the tourney as the starter helps..I definitely think we've been worse off in the goaltending department in previous years.

Good yes, but hardly elite in my mind. Ranked around 5-10 in the OHL this year, where last year he was easily the best or 2nd best goalie in the league. Hes on just as good a team as he was on last year, and his stats are down. The experience sure helps, but its definitely a step down from the elite goaltending we've gotten in the past, last few years not withstanding. Subban is doing quite well this year actually.

100% agreed. I'm amazed that you're a pre-med student and able to keep up with today's hockey.

Med not pre-med, only 1 year left! well 1.5 but close enough. I sacrifice other things for hockey.. For instance my alarm clock goes off in 2.5 hours for a 13 hour shift at the hospital.. yeah I'm kinda fucked.

Wrong school Neel!!! The Ubc med students I'm buddies with are mon-fri about 10-12 hour days. The placement even easier, but not in NYc, would that be considered a prestigious placement? Don't be humble!

I think i only have 1 too, Ross - not sure if he'll make it. If he does he'll be used as a 3rd/4th line shutdown, agitator.

Who'll get to back up Visentin?
Looked like it'd be Bunz before camp started, but I'm liking Wedgewood more and more.

Tough call..I've watched most of both games and none of the 4 goalies have looked out of place. Visentin is a lock as the starter as he's done nothing to lose the job. I'd probably say Domingue will be the backup but wouldn't be suprised one bit if Bunz or Wedgewood won the backup job.
Also, Howden took a pretty big hit today from Connolly..hope he's ok and healthy in time for the tournament. After 2 days, looks like a lot of forward spots are taken already..
1. Strome
2. Scheifele
3. Smith-Pelly
4. Connolly
5. Howden
6. Huberdeau
7. Gallagher
8. Schwartz
9. Bulmer
That would leave 4 more forward spots including the 13th forward. Looks like Jenner, Mcneill, and Stone have the inside tracks on the remaining spots though..wouldn't be suprised if Di Guiseppe makes it as the 13th forward.
Defense wise..
Gormley and Dougie Hamilton are basically the only locks. Looks like Beaulieu, Petrovic, and Psysk have the inside track on the remaining spots. Ryan Murray should also make it..but other than that, lots of spots up for grabs on the back end.
