Not sure Nylander carries as much value in the league as we think he should... the benefit of the draft pick is the $$ flexibility. If do get a D-man, need to drop $$. Andersen and Rielly contracts coming up. Or dump for picks/prospects and sign Petro... ?! we can all dream right.

Sam Bennett? Guy has no business as the main piece in a deal for nylander. He's fodder that is replaceable.

Agreed. Bennet is pretty bad. You don't trade a top six forward for a plug and a 2nd.

I highly doubt you're coming out ahead on a Nylander deal, but likely the only of the big F who's contract is easily moved.

With the flat cap, I imagine teams aren't going voluntarily take on salary without a little something extra thrown in. What I wonder about is will the concept of taking on an expiring UFA contract in these flat cap years become a way for teams get short term help. The Leafs got Barrie as an expiring contract and didn't have to eat all his cap hit in the process. GMs will have to be a bit more creative and it'll be a fast-moving offseason from the looks of it.

As a Canuck fan I'd be interested in Nylander. It could probably only happen if the Canucks buy out or move a few other of their terrible contracts tho [Eriksson (6), Myers (6), Sutter (4.4), Baertschi (3.4)] and a couple other bad contracts. Benning...
