Re: LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS thread
Ya I agree with following NHL for cutoffs... not sure how to make that big of a change though - what about dropping the waiver exempt age by 1 year each season going forward... that way teams can plan for it, as I'm sure most aren't hanging on to too many 28 year olds in the minors...
Also not a fan of tanking by benching starting players... teams in the NHL don't do it, so we shouldn't either.

moving forward, that's going to be taken care of as per the announcementHandsome&FairMike wroteCOLON Also not a fan of tanking by benching starting players... teams in the NHL don't do it, so we shouldn't either.
Re: LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS thread
it's not like tanking doesn't happen or is not going to happen anymore... taking care of 'benching starting players' doesn't mean there won't be tanking anymore.. just in a more realistic and fairer manner. And more resembling of who the weakest teams really are.Matthew wroteCOLONI feel like if hording is allowed then tanking should be allowed to give the poor teams the best chances at players who can make an impact in the nhl the soonest.
The poor teams are indeed awarded the best chances at "players who can make an impact in the nhl the soonest", just like you advocate for.
Speaking of which, one thing we certainly need to amend IMO is the waiver draft: in the past we had 3 rounds, which might have been too much indeed, but then we went straight down to 1 round. I got no support in the CC to have 2 rounds, but I think we should at the very least have 35 picks: 1 round + 1 more pick for the bottom 5 teams.
What happened with the Free Agency opening this year was ridiculous imo, with GMs trying to beat each other in a first comes first competition for the leftovers.
What happened showed that, contrary to CC/Admins belief, there are available players that may have an impact (or at least are expected to, hence hold some value on the market) beyond one waiver draft round:
Since we want to help bottom teams getting players that might otherwise be hoarded in some top teams' minors, we should clearly give them higher priority instead of using a first comes first system right after the 30th pick is made.Free Agent Activity

I would award a 2nd pick to the bottom 10 teams. If they miss on the best available players, which is entirely possible as the above claims show, then it will be their fault and not our system fault.
As a bonus we wouldn't have as much of a stupid rush to be the first one posting and making claims once FA opens.
Re: LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS thread
yep, a mod should copy this discussion in a new separate thread and trim this one leaving only the announcements here.anton wroteCOLONwow lots of announcements today
I always ask for this thread to be left alone without comments, but never happens and I don't have mod powers to take care of that.
Re: LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENTS thread
Obviously you don't have access to the CC forum. I initiated the conversation on the subject this past off season.kimmer wroteCOLONI know Mike never likes talkin about this lol

I can do some pruning later today. I agree that this thread shouldn't be larded up with chatter.

Oh...I see. Is that possible? give some sort of universal thread access to the mods.

well the point is the mods could unlock the thread whenever necessary, i.e. whenever they need to post an announcementLeanMachine wroteCOLONOh...I see. Is that possible? give some sort of universal thread access to the mods.
