1. Nathan MacKinnon

For me it's:

1. Seth Jones
2. Nathan Mackinnon
2. Alexander Barkov
4. Sean Monahan
5. Curtis Lazar

I know Jones isn't the popular choice, but I've long thought the kid has the tools to be a special defenceman, and I'm not going to change my opinion of him this early into the year.

What I see as the rankings right now

1. Nathan Mackinnon
2. Aleksander Barkov
3. Seth Jones
4. Sean Monahan
5. Elias Lindholm
6. Jonathan Drouin
7. Hunter Shinkaruk
8. Curtis Lazar
9. Ristolainen
10. Pulock

And that's saying a lot because I consider Curtis Lazar a top 5 talent. Plus Ristolainen and Pulock could really jump up. Drouin and Shinkaruk are incredibly skilled, while I think Lindholm is the best draft eligible prospect playing in the SEL since Backstrom.

"I can almost guarantee that Lindholm will become a superstar in the NHL"

We almost agree entirely on our list, I'd put Monahan above Jones, simply not enough production out of Jones for me, and the 'lumbering' comment is very relevant, and although he has the physical ability to do more, he often does not.

Lindholm is sick, very hard to place. Barkov is going to be a dominant NHLer, but something about Mackinnon tells me this is a kid you win stanley cups with -> that's more then RNH, Landy, Seguin etc... on champion level with Stamkos & Hall.

Russians will never return, and why would they? They are still making huge $$$$ playing at home.

Yeah definitely. As much as I'd like to say that Barkov (especially), Monahan or even Lindholm deserve to be mentioned for first overall, Mackinnon is a dominant player with an absolutely lethal skill set, and he just has all the drive and determination.

The requirements to get in the top 5 of this years draft are pretty outstanding so far. Like just a simple scouting report on Lazar would be something along the likes of "Great 2-way player, has a bit of an edge to his game. Coaches love him. Lethal shot, very smart, very good skater, fairly good hands and decent vision/playmaking abilities." And whats holding him back from being a top 5 pick in this draft - "Only a very good skater, doesn't have quite elite speed, his hands arent spectacular, as in he doesn't dangle the entire opposite team endlessly. He doesn't put up huge numbers/his playmaking is seeming to be a bit lacking." Thats a pretty rough critique that seems almost like I'm just looking for reasons to put him behind the other guys, which is just a testament to how good the top of this draft is playing thus far in the season.

I really am excited to see a bit more of Lindholm coming up, him and Barkov are going head-head monday. Both guys are doing pretty unreal things in their respective Pro leagues as 17 year olds, that have yet to be seen really since maybe the likes of Granlund and Backstrom?
