Roy had shoulder pain last year and played through it, and he planned to do the same this year. The Stars felt it was time to fix it. Jerry Sullivan via twitter: Sullivan notes that Roy’s surgery raises serious issues about the way the Sabres deal with injuries.

Pretty sure if Roy wanted to, he could have had surgery last year.

The Washington Capitals have re-signed defenseman Mike Green to a three-year, $18.25 million contract extension, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. Green will earn $6 million in 2012-13 and 2013-14 and $6.25 million in 2014-15.

Although I didn't see the need for a raise (shouldn't have been a paycut either though) I think its a fair contract. Injuries are what have held him back not play, if he stays healthy this will be a great contract.
